• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

And off to ZipTy it goes...

Got over 4000 super fun miles on the TE511. Time to upgrade the suspension some. Sending it off to ZipTy for a revalve, respring and lower. Also might be getting a FMF powerbomb header and ECU reflash. Any if i can swing it and EMF clutch might be in order. This will IMHO make this a super versatile do it all Monster DS bike. FUN****************************************

All cleaned up and ready to go.

I used taped on spray can caps to keep the bleeder buttons from being pressed and causing a leak. But of course you can remove them and put the screws back in.

On The return from ZTR the shipping co smashed the cap (ZTR re mounted them) on one side and of course they must've loaded the forks in top down position...one leaked quite a bit of oil. We consulted with Ty on oil height and just added some to get back up to proper level. (FYI) RN2

Nice. I'm anxious to hear about what kind of increase the Powerbomb will give you. Are you going to get the Factory 4.1 to go
along with it ?

My daughter packaged them, looks funny but she did a good job. Lots of bubble wrap on the fork tube caps, should be good. Was concerned myself about that. Thanks.

I bet you will be installing the ZT developed head/case breather on your 511. Your TE 511 is looking real nice. Surprised your fork reflectors have survived.

it is looking a little more beat that that as that was last year. Love that bike and hope to love it even more here soon. as for the breather. yes will end up with one soon but my hose reroute has worked for me so far so not something i am desperately looking to solve. Seems some have the issue more than others.

How much are you going to lower it?

How much are you going to lower it?

I'll let the pros at ZT determine that but asked for about an inch front and rear. Might just end up with whatever they do rear. We will see. I ride this bike a lot fo DS use and less for going fast unless I go to bend or the ridge so I'll deal with lowered to get footing in the tight stuff. I have ridden several lowered bikes and actually love the way they turn. Will give up some deep whoop performance for better handling and EZ footing. Buddy of mine and me were talking about how 10" of quality travel seems about right for woods riding and how manufacturers assume we all need 12 plus. this is the right mount for me to experiment with. Just sent it out today so we will see what the man says.

Hope he knows what the heck he is doing :D

I have been thinking more and more about lowering one of mine and will be anxious to hear your RR.

Best way to ship suspention is to go purchase a cheap gun case I have been shiping it the same case for 10 years
Don't forget the old Levi's jeans. A fork down each leg and the shock in the crotch. Haha
You sent your suspension to Ty? Man... You're braver than I thought. ;)

I'll probably end up doing the job, just as well, I'm better than Ty anyway, hey, I'm pretty good with pliers. Old trick I learned, when the springs don't come out, just pull harder! Whatcha mean? Those vice grip marks were already there?!? and those dings aren't mine. Motor oil is just as good as fork oil... I'll fix 'em real good. ;)

Awesome, if you can make it work like a 10 year old PDS that would be great.
This ain't no KTM boy...
No, no, for you, I'm fix'n to get you some of those upright open oil bath forks. Those hold tons of oil, hell, I'll fill them to the top just in case you need extra for your engine.

Just make sure to get aaalllll the hot air out of those suspenders!!

PS i gotta get through this weekends local fun race then ZTR will see my 2013 stuff.
