• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

This sort of thing sort of makes it totally clear to me that knowing-the-track means a great deal ... The EU guys for sure have their favorite tracks on their circuit ... MM25 had his favorite tracks over here ...The best I ever did in my racing here was when I had at 1 day of practice ... Just about guaranteed a podium ...Without that day, top 5 maybe ..

Then there is like 011 MXoN ...where the Ryan Express handled every big name across EU to take the top step ... Another clue there maybe ... Another race also that happens shortly ... With the exception of AC222, JH84, lots of the same riders maybe except the Ryan Express handed the duties to our younger guys ... They will be racing next yr most likely EU, so be ready again:) (+ ET3 and TC41.. enjoy the racing this yr )

Clues are only clues ... The record book only shows winners names... Not alot of reasons written on how or why I did not win ...
 
Was there yesterday....in that blistering heat. Was totally worth it and would do it again sunburn and all.

Jessy Nelson was riding like a kid possessed - he crushed the Europeans.

In the GP Class Grant did the usual. Started out strong but faded (he needs a fitness program). Whereas CWebb was out for blood and looking to prove his worth. He has NO FEAR.

AC222 is even faster in real life and is smooth and efficient.

Me and the kid were commenting on how KTM sent their farm team (TLD Racing) and they crushed it.
 
Glad you went Temec! I was doing yard work .....all day first in the 100 deg air of spring valley (my truck temp gauge read 111 when I climbed in) then to the 90 deg heat of nado.......MXGP fotos??? any meet and greet?? I had the inside line with my "industry connections" but never followed through on it. whatever ... both yards look much better now!!!(and we saved a couple hundred on hiring tree trimmers) And my 300 is tore down a bit for a good clean up and service!!
 
It blew me away... I was so happy for our riders and fans ... We know Grant can run a fast lap or two ... He said he ran over his foot in the 1st race and it really hurt ... Then the second, he just grunted it out ... Webb gave a pretty good interview again after the race ...He was calm, cool, and collected again ..

AC222 gave a pretty good interview before the race while in the gate before the 1st race ... He's coming back to win another one for sure ... He was laughing but serious ..

Given I had just spent some time on L.I. I too should have done some yard work. But, I was NOT going to miss!

I have lots of pics and some vid. I'll try to get up this week.
 
Wow! really surprising results. Sounds like the sun and heat was tough on the Euro's. Great job by the TLD team, Grant and Webb obviously. Not sure what happened to JA in the 2nd moto yet after having a good 1st moto.
"Max Nagl had a technical problem and then a big crash in the second race for a double DNF; the German had started the year with a 1-1 triumph in Qatar but now faced a polar opposite." Sorry Max wasn't in the mix. Usual lame highlights, so look forward to watching the full race.

I was also there yesterday and saw some great racing. The only downer was the lack of spectator support, maybe 3,000 to 4,000 spectators total. OK, so that made parking a breeze and there were no lines at the concession stands but come on, this is the biggest International MX race on American soil of the year. We can do much better than that. The Glen Helen MX National draws over 25,000 spectators so we have the fan base...

Just a few random post race thoughts:
-Romain Fabvre showed why he is MXGP World Champion with his overall victory.
-Antonio Cairoli looked unbelivably smooth and fast for this being his 1st race back after 6 weeks off due to injury.
-Cooper Webb is the real deal on a 450 and should be a strong Team USA member next week in France.

Next year in 2016 Glen Helen will again host the MX USGP and in 2017 the Motocross of Nations will be held at Glen Helen. Mark these events on your calender and plan to attend them both.
 
That is a pretty big drop off in attendance ... I think I read it cost ~100$ per day for this event ...How does that compare to the cost of a Nationals ticket? In 2017, we should have the same riders as now and they will no longer be rookies or 250cc riders ...

AC is a pretty hard guy ... I was watching his interviews towards the end where he had to quit, and he was saying he was riding with one arm really and then he would say his times were not too bad as compared to the leaders and he wanted to ride ... I was thinking ...just stop riding or your arm is gonna fall off ...

He battled RM pretty good in the first moto ... Not sure what happened in the 2nd moto ..

JM1 is just as ~fast as Coop ... Most don't know that because they do not watch the races each week :) ... JM is gonna be another guy who rides and wins and makes it look too easy ...No mistakes and cool as a cucumber... Like RD5 ... I just hope all riders finish off in France with no crashing ...

Webb said the 450 is much more bike to toss around out there as compared to a 250 ... I always listen to the interviews ... You can get pretty good insight on racing and the bikes ...

THXS for the Max update, NC ... I saw a little piece on him after his return and he sounded like the fire was gone after the championship hunt was over ...
 
not to take anything away from winning but, someone above mentioned home town advantage gh is ridden over and over for racing, testing and practice along with the other socal tracks by all the socal based teams and all the us factory teams, track feel and knowledge plays a big roll in all motorsports. bitchen event for sure and good on all the racers, its a different tv exposure for many of the guys
 
that's what makes the new unfamiliar tracks so interesting to see where the riders are.

Quatar, Thailand, Argentinian, Holland (Assen) all new tracks with interesting results.

The USGP tickets were about the same price as a MX Nationals ticket. Sunday only general admission ticket was $50.00, you could buy a pit pass for an additional $20.00 and another $10.00 would get you grandstand seating. Parking was $20.00 per vehicle for the near by lot or you could park for $10.00 if you didn't mind about a 20 to 30 minute walk to the track. Motorcycle parking was free and the motorcycle parking area was right next to the ticket booth and entrance. They did offer a 3 day VIP pass for $300.00 per person that included parking in a very near by VIP lot, unlimited access to the facility and pits, VIP seating and catered breakfast and lunch.

Our group of 4 just went with the $50.00 general admission tickets and we split the $20.00 parking 4 ways so for $55.00 per head we saw some great racing without breaking the bank...
 
Tracks are only new about once :) ... 2nd motos are are harder I felt because every rider on the track has had a very good look at the track ..

I dig those crazy threads**************************************** ... So glad these guys won ... Nobody here or on the web gave our riders much of a chance other than yours truely... After watching the FIM riders race their races, it appeared to me that they had nothing over our riders ...They looked fast and crashed alot ... Sort of like our young riders ...

SIDENOTE 2: Rider second from the left is their MX2 champion for yr 2015, Tim Gajser. He defeated their 2014 champion, Jodi Tixier... Gotta add their young 250cc riders are very interesting to watch during their racing season ... Lots of action, maybe more action the 250cc USA guys MX racing ... SX racing of course, crashing costs lots more usually so it is not desirable ...

SIDENOTE 3: Are those Americans old enough to handle that bottle of champagne? We know Cooper Webb is only 19 ...

SIDENOTE 4: Black draws heat ... Certainly hope the 2 gals don't over-heat ...

Thanks for the info and setting me straight on the numbers ... Breaking it into a 1 day event as you described sounds reasonable, I guess ... Sort of lost touch with reality on pricing since I stopped working and moved away ... Pit pass is little <whatever> ... maybe it helps keep the traffic down in the pits ...

Motorcycle parking free and at the front of the line? That's what I'm talking about.. .What a great attitude.... Golden and music to my ears ...
 
As I said above ... Our young riders were given about zero chance to compete with the FIM riders and after they kicked buttt, some seem to wanna say the track was the reason? Huh?

I'm ecstatic for our young riders proving that they can ride and whip these guys and for giving any fans of our sport something to cheer about....
 
I made the trip as well. Although I was second-guessing the decision after seeing the temperature! The minion and I got to see and congratulate Roger Decoster walking behind the pits, which was cool although dumb me didnt get a pic, but a super nice guy. Track was pretty sweet. I've raced Glen Helen GP's in the past but thankfully not in that configuration!

some notes-
-Not sure I agree with the comment that Josh Grant faded... he ran over his own foot in moto 1 and won moto 2??? If you don't fade in 105 degree heat, you aren't human. Not bad for an old guy and plus seeing a couple other american's pull out from the heat..
- Turn out was very small but on a good note, got to see a lot of icons really up close
- Was happy to support Bud and crew to keep it coming back next year.
- Next year, pay the $20 parking! The $10 parking was a mile away (or at least it felt like it carrying my 4 yr old girl) Thanks to the Rhino driver who gave us a ride back!
