  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Am I lean?

dirt addict

Husqvarna
AA Class
I was riding today and the guy next to me said my bike sounded a little lean. I pulled the plug and half of the electrode was dark and the other side was very light brown? Can anyone tell me why it would be like that?
I have go pro footage ... does the bike sound lean?
fyi it's a 2014 cr125 with a keihin 38mm carb. 175 / 42 / 5.5 slide / jd blue needle in 3rd clip. 70* f and 800' asl. Stock gearing.

I would agree. There was a few times in the vid where the bike would take a bit to calm down. In my experience I'd say these bikes like to be a tad on the rich side of things.

As far as plug reading goes mines the same way I tend to judge by feel more than plug reading as long as it looks decent.

1:55-2:10 sounds quite lean.

Do you think I need to go up on the mj, lower the needle clip or try another needle? I switched carbs from the oem mikuni to the keihin. The needle is from a kit I had on a 2006 ktm 250sx. JD blue needle which is the cold weather option.
Does anyone have a needle recommendation for the keihin?

unless your doing throttle chops and shutting the motor down at different throttle positions you might not be getting an accurate plug reading. you could be rich on bottom and lean on top but if the bike idles a bit before you shut it down you might not see how lean it really was on top..if that makes sense? hears a good chart...

ha ha ha I was thinking the same thing when I saw the chart. Even spewing oil out the tailpipe my bike looks like yours always with the Lectron. I think there is something to the fuel atomizing.

I've got a lectron and get a decent reading but its on the heavy side. It was tuned perfect for the 125 maybe the 165 needs to be leaned out a little. Bike runs good and doesn't foul plugs so I don't even know if I care.
