  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Aluminum Gas Cap

Does anybody know if the aluminum gas cap is still available for a 2012 TE449?

I checked the current Husky website and 2 caps were shown but no year given. The ones shown were not red and aluminum like I remember the ones for the 2012.

Thanks
Mike

The aluminum gas cap seems to be a hard item to find. I ordered one from Hall's but its on backorder. I hear that there is a possibility that these "hard parts" may be discontinued. I'm not so sure I'll even get it. Bill's Husky is also out of stock.
Any help locating one would be appreciated.

2011 - TE449

We made one, better than Husqvarna hard part and it is coming very soon. It has an updated sealing system that cures the poor flat ring washer gasket. Fits 2011-2014 TE/TXC/SMR 449/511. :busted:

So you've got a gas cap coming and an oil filter magnet cover coming...what else can we expect? Shifter/brake pedals?

Tinken...any idea when this aluminum gas cap part will be ready to ship to customers? I'm actively looking for one now. Need it ASAP!
TE449

Tinken to the rescue yet again. I've been trying to be careful with my stock cap, but with age it seems to be getting easier to cross thread no matter how careful I am. I almost ordered the Husky one last month, but remembered that you mentioned that this was one of those things on your list and figured it would be better to wait and see.

Yeah the plastic cap eventually warps to the point to where it is almost impossible to get on. Replace ASAP.

Yep, though it's easy to tell when I screw it (pun intended) up. Hmmm Smells like gas behind my ass!

I've started using the Vaseline trick, but that only held me over for about a month. While it's still easier to twist with the Vaseline on there, I now spend 10 minutes after a fill up to get the thread started without crossing. So put me down for one as soon as they are anodized!!

The gas caps are designed by Terry Davis (TerryCable), who knows more about gas caps than probably anyone on the planet. No pictures as of yet. My extent on the project was product testing where we modified my Husky cap to properly seal. Oh and that it had to be low profile, seeing that I sit on the gas cap, so one of those Christmas tree caps wouldn't work for me.
