• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Wake up to a hearty breakfast scramble and a big cup of coffee on Saturday to prepare for a day full of exhilarating riding along the Olympic National Park. After a riders meeting and brief training seminar with PSSOR and AltRider’s president Jeremy LeBreton, split into groups based on skill level for a GPS-led ride through stunning forests, bridges across vistas and lakes, twisty dirt and gravel roads. Halfway through the day the route brings you back to the campsite for a delicious lunch, then it’s back on the trail for more gorgeous scenery with plenty of opportunities for great pictures. Come back from your epic day of riding to a big dinner back at the campsite and enjoy a few microbrews next to the fire while we have a prize ceremony with special prizes from sponsors ICON, RevZilla, Akrapovic, Trail Tech, and Tour USA Motorcycle Rentals.

On Sunday morning, the smell of coffee and delicious food will once again fill the campsite as you get ready for an adventure ride home. For those who need a little more dirt therapy before heading home, this route offers some of the best terrain the OlympicPeninsulahas to offer, while still taking you back to Highway 101. Make the trek back to civilization as you reminisce about new memories, new friends and new skills.

Here’s the latest on AltRider’s 2013 Hoh Rainforest Ride. We’ve added an intro to off-road riding class with PSSOR Saturday August 17th that will go over the basics of riding posture, slow speed control, picking up your motorcycle, braking and evasive maneuvers, and more. After breaking for a delicious lunch, split into smaller groups and use your new skills on the beautiful trails with PSSOR instructors coaching you every step of the way. Friday afternoon Alex Guth of Alyxmoto BMW Motorcycle Service and Repair will be offering routine checkups on your bike and answering any maintenance questions you might have. Alex has been a BMW motorcycle technician for the past 24 years and was trained by BMW Motorrad. Friday evening he’ll be giving an informative talk on his Top 5 Motorcycle Maintenance Tips. Saturday night Neal Bayly, star of Speed Channel’s Neal Bayly Rides, will be giving an exclusive presentation on his experiences leading a novice group of riders through the challenging terrain of Peru to reach an orphanage.
