Aftermarket Heat Shield for the SM 610?

I was wondering if anybody makes an aftermarket heat shield for the SM 610. Something a little smaller in size and better looking.

I wrapped mine with header tape. I looks good and helps with some of the heat. I think changing the can to aftermarket like an Uptite it would even cooler both ways (Cooler and better looking) and it would take some weight off.

Note: George says to wait till you get 600 miles to change anything

I had a Leo Vince muffler installed at the dealer before I picked up up and the fuel injection was remapped too. I would like to change the stock muffler shield to something a little nicer looking.

Nice quick cheap easy fix.

Wet it first, I used hose clamps to secure the ends of the wrap, let dry, then use silicone spray and re-apply as required.(follow OEM instructions WRT overlap)
Did find though after a solid caining that the wrap did part in a section that my boot was touching. On trails I stand up nearly all day.

I had an off cut and re-wrapped that bit and secured with tie-wire.

I went ahead and painted my exhaust shields low gloss black. I used Dupli Color engine paint and gave it three light coats. It camouflages the covers that I felt stuck out like a sore thumb. I also removed the rear turn signal spacers which moved the turn signals in about two inches on each side. Below are pictures with the black exhaust covers and with the turn signal spacers removed.

Sorry to hear that.

I just got mine last month and I'm still on the honeymoon.

One thing nice about living in California is it feels like summer most of the year.

Here in the Republic of Kalifornia you can't get away with no turn signals. They even pull you over for smallish non DOT turn signals and I don' want to get pulled over unless I'm speeding or popping a wheelie.

The mirrors are Super Duke 2 mirrors and I found them on eBay. I like them because they are lower then the tall stock ones but work very well for the traffic I ride through.

How do you secure the wrap at the back end? hose clamp? safety wire?

The store that sells your wrap should have the metal zip-ties for fastening it at the ends. Make sure you wrap from the rear of the pipe towards the front, that way your folds are facing back and won't fill with any grim or crude coming off the trail or street. This is an older pic of my bike but it's taken right after I repainted the wrap with silicon header wrap black paint so it shows it off pretty good.

my heat shield ripped a hole in my mid pipe, so i got rid of it. had to take the mid pipe to meineke to get the hole fixed. wrapped it, for now, as pictured. will take a look at the aftermarket shields for a permanent fix. i removed all the nubs from the pipes, so whatever i use will have to be fitted with clamps. beyond that, i got my leoV slip on today, can't wait to post pics ;o)

This is the Touratech Heat Shield for the 630, but it fits perfectly on the 610.

That thing is so typically TT - fugly and over engineered IMHO. A real bad joke!
