• 4 Stroke Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Italy - About 1989 to 2014
    TE = 4st Enduro & TC = 4st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Adventures with my TE310 - the beginning

WB,

Great thread. The pic of the green riding suit looked like it was a one-piece sweater, or neoprene

Installed MotorSportz kickstand yesterday. Photos soon.
It's a pain to install, but decently made. Much better than the flimsy stock thing.
I like to lean the bike on the stand to oil the chain and pivot in place. It needs shortening due to my Koubalink, and a wide foot welded on.
The foot on it is plastic for some reason.

Waiting on my Garmin 60cx to come in the mail. Everyone is upgrading to the 62, because its yellow or some stupid reason. BMW guys, I guess...have to have the latest and greatest...
I've got a RAM mount on the handlebars already.

Ordered a rack from CycleRacks.com
It ties into the lower subframe mounts, and should work with the MotorSportz parts. Holds more weight without the subframe shattering - everyone else's rack seems to have a problem with that.
The company is great! He mails you the rack BEFORE charging you, in case you don't like it for whatever reason.

An Aerostich fuseblock (without actual fuses, and waterproof) is ordered. Also, wiring for the Garmin, my phone, and extra lighting. Hope I can find somewhere to put it.
It has a switchable circuit for running a louder horn without a relay. (I keep blowing relays at 3 am...my neighbors love it.)

I'm walking aimlessly around the house, everyday...waiting on the all the parts to come in.

TrailTech HID. Pretty easy install. Don't even need the high beam. bright doesn't describe it.
The low beam is better than both high beams on my Subaru. Seriously.
Also, my $20 tank panniers. Waterproof and same design as the $75 BMW ones.

TouraTech countershaft sprocket guard. Shoulda saved the money.

Right-angle tank vent I made for $2. Should help with a tank bag.
In the background- the tank round casing I used to blow up an Iraqi personnel carrier. It's now my $30,000 ashtray.

Plastic foot on MotorSportz kickstand. It's gonna be cut off, anyway.

KoubaLink helps me touch the pavement. 1.5 inch drop. Had to twist the rear spring, and a little grinding.

New backpack to replace Ol' Trusty.
Waterproofing it with 3M stuff. Lots more space, and a Camelbak pouch. Sewing on some reflective striping.
It'll strap to the tail rack pretty easy.

40 tooth Sprocket I bought from a member. Thanks, Darkside!

A lot smaller.

New chain that came with it...doesn't fit. WTH?
I'm also using a 15t front, but the swingarm adjusting bolts are ALL the way in. Can't find the stock front sprocket.
Gonna have to run the junky older chain until I fix it.

Admire my girly-soft hands.
That's what college does for you.

Have photos of $20 tank panniers, same design as the BMW ones for $75.
And other stuff. But can't seem to upload pics. Some type of data cap on the forum?

Love it. I was a 5" 54 Fire Controlman on DDG-60 for several years. I sent my mom a 5" powder casing that she used for an umbrella stand for a while, then threw away. :banghead:

I collect very little stuff. That was pretty much the one thing I sent home that I really wanted to keep.

I like your innovations, man! You're going to have quite a sweet rig when you're done, I think.

Sabot or HEAT for the aft-cap?

Yeah, but you got to keep your mom.
Mine disowned me because I'd rather be a doctor than shoot people. She was an ultra-right-wing reporter, and I caught wind of her using my vet status...hoping to run for local office.
Good riddance.

Moving on.
Must...buy...heated...gloves...

Went for a test run on the new 40t sprocket. Slapped on my crusty old chain, since the new one is too short.
I must say - I like it better than stock!
I don't see the power loss everyone is talking about. And with a 15t front. I'd put a 16t, if it'd fit.
Still have a very usable 1st gear. The motor is very happy chugging along at high speed, now.

Was stopped by Johnny Law on the way home. Apparently I was speeding.
The speedometer display crapped out for some reason, so I don't know how fast. I was passing cars in a 55 zone, and they're usually going at least 10 over.
The motor sounded at about 7000 or so RPM.
The cop let me go with a warning because he liked the bike, he said. Said he was following me for a while, wondering if it was street-legal.

Got the MotorSportz kickstand shortened. And a bigger foot welded.
And a little grippy piece added for my foot to catch the bar (the round bar is slippery, trying to put it down).

Sabot or HEAT for the aft-cap?

Neither.
MPAT. Multi Purpose Anti-Tank. Motion sensing fuse, with direct impact or air burst mode. Mostly for helicopters, but packs a better punch than HEAT. Does really nasty things to troops in the open....no need to pick up bodies.

The HEATs are $30k, MPATs are $60k each. I shot about $200,000 in half an hour, somewhere up Highway 1. Good times....

Here's a random photo to keep everyone interested.
No-ass hooker on a bike she doesn't own: (or possibly a dood...you never know...)

Why aren't my farking pictures working?!!? Coffee! Fix this business! Or no soup for you!

Thanks for all the "likes". I got a trophy from them all!!!
Didn't know they gave trophies on web forums. I like it. Keep em coming!

Didn't have those when I was a 19k. Sabot, HEAT and HEP;). There were still vanilla M1's with 105's in the CONUS units but GE was all 120 for Desert Storm. Awesome piece of boom boom!

I've got the OEM chain to use with the 13/40T sprocket setup the bikes are crated with. Wonder if that would work for you? Let me know, I'll send it to you.

HEPs were all trashed...so they say. Probably sold to the egyptians or whomever.
There was talk about bringing back the Bee Hive flechette round for urban stuff. Not necessary though.

You can set the MPAT to airburst and shoot it through a window. It proximity fuse sees the window, then blows once it's inside the room.
DOD didn't know it could do that...we kinda figured it out "by accident"....very messy.

Rocks the front half of the tank off the ground when it goes off. Like the sabots, which I didn't much use. No long distance stuff this time around, you lucky bastard.
The long shots were my specialty - disappointed me.

I'd love to have that chain.
Could you count the links for me? This is the stock one that goes with the 40t, Darkside said. Maybe its a fluke.
Want my old 50t? And, I can send ya half of this one to keep as spare.

Gutz soft seat with two-tone cover.
Veeeerrry nice for my bony ass.

Looks like a patch or something. But, it's some kind of cheap sticker that will probably fade.

The seat cover is just grippy enough, without being too much.

Somehow have to figure out how to mount this HD video camera. Too cheap to buy a GoPro.

There are too many old fences where I live. Rusted, torn, and good for nothing.

Harbor Freight has these for $4.

The rear is magnetic and has a hook.

They also have stainless zip-ties, cheaper than everywhere else.

It's a D.I.D. 5200 S and has 57 links. Never been used except to ship the bike from Italy to Tasky's:).

IMG_0562.JPG

I still remember the M1 as being the smoothest ride on the planet; got to be easy on the brakes unless you want to bust the TC's teeth out:D MPAT sounds quite useful! I still have a soft spot for Armor guys. It's a hard life (literally) when deployed on an invasion type scenario. Can never really leave the beast. Eat, sleep, crap, pull guard, break track, change packs and seems like nothing weighs less than 80lbs on them regardless what system you are maintaining. In my mind I always considered them to be nearly invulnerable........until a very bad day in 2004 when one met a MOFO of an IED. IED won. 4 friends didn't. Anyhoo....

I want my photos to work.

Lemme figure out if I can safely add links to this chain, before I take yours. Although, I may want it as a back-up.
Still waiting on my chain breaker/rivet tool to come in the mail.

Let's not talk about things that go bang, anymore, Ion.

No problem, reliving the glory days; they weren't that glorious. The chain is sitting in my spare parts bin. At the rate I've ridden the last 6 months, I'll never need a new one.

So, I have a plan.

I want to ride my 310 across the country, from ocean to ocean.
And back again.
I'd like to visit a desert where people don't hide bombs in dead goats. And Seattle.

Maybe I could raise some money for a childrens' charity (CHARGE syndrome, coloboma). Not sure how that part works. Another first. (Do I call the news channel or something? How is this done?)

I'm being offered a full-ride scholarship to PA school (like med school...but better). Just have to pass the interview sessions in the next few weeks, and then I find out for sure.
If I get in - I have nothing to do for a year. And nothing to lose.
I already wasted a few years in Iraq. I'd like some of it back.
It may be the only time in my life I have the chance....maybe the stars are aligning.

If I don't get in...it'll help me from hanging myself off an overpass (to piss off the commuters).

I'd like to ride the Trans-American trail at least part of the way. (Tennessee to Oregon, gravel/single track, etc)
With a good mix of highway miles to try blowing up my motor.

"Whoopee-damn-doo for you", you say. "What about MY needs?"
Well...you get to naysay and complain about various impossibilities, inadequacies, etc. Whatever floats your boat.
