  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Actual weight of 511's?

On the subject of weight. If you remove the stock can for FMF, lose the stock battery for lithium,
The rear fender stuff and turn signals, replaced with the sicass signals. Almost 10 pds.
So mine is about 255/260 tops gased up and full of oil. That is not to shabby.

The dry weight of a MY13 TE310R is 247lbs. MY2013 TE511 is 255lbs. You can drop a lot more weight from the TE511 than you can the 310R, making them nearly identical in weight after race modifying both.

Mine is a big fat pig. All the gear ads up . Power to weight should be better than a 449 still ....
It had between 1.25 and 1.5 gallons of fuel in it :)
Parts list,
45t ironman sprocket,
TM chain guide,
Motorsportz front and rear disk guards,
Up-Tite bash plate,
FMF Powercore slip-on,
Cyrca Pro Bend handguards,
JD tuner,
Scotts steering dampener with sub mount,
Trail Teck H2 headlight with TE 310 front fender,
Maxis heavy duty rear tube, MSR ultra tube front, maxis non DOT IT desert tires, 120/100/18 & 80/100/21,
Minus all the smog crap and one mirror and no turn signals :)

286 pounds :)

D'oh! 286 lbs., that's 276 minus the 10lbs of gas. Very XR650-ish? I know, it rides lighter.
I guess heavy bike with light price is a fair deal. All the 4t's are heavy, as they are what they are.

I'll focus on the fact that I have a knack for avoiding trail drama. I don't mind watching it. :]

Yep! Real men ride the 449 !

:lol: I think you've got that backwards my friend.

Big Bore 4 stroke does not = Poor handling on trails. I think the CTS really does benefit traction in the gnarly stuff and I love the way the 511
handles tight trails once everything is dialed in.

All the weight don't mean nothing. It's mental.... Here is a good rider on a KTM 300 that got his as$ Handed to him my me on the knarliest trail I have aver ridden. To this day I have only 615 off-road miles on my bike. Check out vid @ 2:50 ... Guess the CTS is worth the extra 50 lbs... Lol

I've heard about the Dusy Ersham from a few different riders. Looks pretty gnarly. Is that near Kennedy Meadows?

Surely the 310 would still *feel* much lighter than the 511 when riding even at the same scale weight.

OE headlight, blinkers, numberplate carrier (albeit trimmed down).

Stuff that would affect weight (up or down); 5" rear rim, 160 rear tyre, akra exhaust, hand guards, smaller mirrors, radiator guards, clutch cover etc.
Nice bike!

Which would be about 293lbs, though I'm not clear what you mean by 'all road gear'

Sounds to me that the 511 is ball park about the same weight as the older 450/510's

Interesting!

SM wheels ad 10 lbs unless you go with 1 piece alloy wheels and tubless :)
Take a 510 and ad the after market I have on mine and they aren't so close ! 5 lbs is a bike deal in the 4t class.. Pot-stirrer :) HeHee
