As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Not sure what you mean but i would expect modified bergs in the entire lineup and no italian inspired models at all.
I thought it was a 450 MX bike they had ready.....maybe they meant they were about to buy one from SP?![]()
That'd be cool if we got Husky's final projectI think your right there were some X-light 450 spy shots floating around.

Well I'm going to ask nicely and maybe we can atleast get pictures lolNot going to happen. Its done.
I just threw up in my mouth......:-X KTM TALK now has a Husky section. Husky used to be lumped in their Exotics Euro section . Now they are right under the Berg section. Boo. Long live the the CAFE!
The question is, why were you over there? Swing both ways now? LolI just threw up in my mouth......:-X KTM TALK now has a Husky section. Husky used to be lumped in their Exotics Euro section . Now they are right under the Berg section. Boo. Long live the the CAFE!
I am sort of excited for this change. I have a KTM now and really enjoy it. Its not perfect, but neither are the Huskys. I went the KTM route because I perceived that KTMs would simply be easier to get into shape to ride -- more aftermarket support, more info etc.. Looking back, there was probably enough Husky support -- but for me [and others I suspect], there is safety in numbers. This move puts Husky squarely in the mainstream IMHO.
What I am hoping is the Huskyheads here put their time and energy into these new bikes and come up with solutions to the uniquely KTM issues [just like they did for the Husky related issues]. Ergos of KTMs funny? How about a clever fix? Don't like the stability? How about new triple clamps or something... Make sense?
I guess I just see this as an oportunity to do the same thing folks did before. Sure the platform is different -- but the opportunities to create something unique is still there. I hope the passion people had before is placed into these new bikes. I will be buying one in the near future and would be bummed if I can't look her for help. Just my $0.02.
I have both a 11' FE570 husaberg and a 13' WR300 Husky ( trading for a 110th anv. 14' wr300 end of month). I have raced both machines, I'm 5'10 and had the 300 lowered 3/4 inch and took another 1/2 out of the seat for good measure. The husky is by far the more comfortable ergos and better handling bike, better turning, better feeling. With that said the Husaberg is way heavier but the motor cant be touched. I'm not talking about the power because it's obvious a 570 hauls the mail, I'm talking about smooth sewing machine butter power full of traction getting pumped to the rear tire. This smooth throttle and power is what the husky lacks. They are both awesome machines to which I have not had any trouble with either.
I have been taking measurements off the chassis to compare the two. Just after some brief tape measure work I noticed my handle bar to foot peg distance is close on each but the front axle on the berg is an inch farther forward ( more rake) than the husky. I always felt the foot pegs were to high on the berg and if you lower them ( which I tried) it makes them feel to far back. The handle bar position just never felt right and I think it was due to the foot peg deal. I always was adjusting the position of my bars on the berg forward then back up then down and just never got them to feel natural like I feel on the husky.
In general the berg suspension felt more plush but I had less bang in the corner control, the husky was a little rougher with the square edge bumps and roots but I felt like I was getting better feedback, a set of tgt bars solved this.
Now that I have a little more time I may play around with it more but thats my 2cents for anyone who was curious. If it has to be done...just put the Burg motor in the husky chassis and it would make me giddy.
Not totally a Berg, as it has linkage. Have to see if they have XC-W/EXC or XC tranny. Bergs have XC-W/EXC tranny. There have been some comments about 5 speeds, the MX bikes have them, like their KTM SX counterparts.does anybody really want to buy a rebadged berg ??? think i will wait till 2015 or p/u a 2013 ital built bike. but that is just me.
