Hi everyone,
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

???? I actually like those when I changing bars etc. Makes life a little easier. I have never had an issue with them.
I like them too.
Never had any come off from tie downs and they are easy to reuse when changing out bars.

Come one Krieg!, that is one of the nicest little symbols on the bike!! I love the running elephant. I was scared when BMW took over we would not have that little guy anymore. I have been using soft tie straps lately and like them a lot. Actually they are KTM straps but they were cheap and work well.

I like those little re-usable guys....There are much better things to rant about IMO:
How about the rear brake line rubbing? duh, Husky.
How about the top bolt that breaks on the counter sprocket cover? Bad design, the magnesium isnt strong enough.
How about the rear mud flap ridges rubbing into the swing arm? Um, yeah, retarded. Year after year.
Forks simply suck. All of them. fingers crossed on the KYBs.
TE610 seat makes my you-know-what go numb. And that just aint good.

Yeah, I think the little rubbers are neat, just need Husky logos now. Sorry.
BUT..... Mike has some good ones. I've gone through several mud flaps just because the tire rubs holes in them. The faster you go, the faster you get holes. Slow down and the mud flap rubs holes in the swingarm. Can't win.
And how about the fuel pump revealing itself all over the place when you pull the tank?
I figure one day it'll just catch fire, blow up, kill me and burn the bike up. Then I won't have anymore problems.

The rubber things work well until you actually have to transport your bike on a trailer. Then the tie-down straps will peel them off the handlebars... never to be seen again.
I like the rubber bands, a lot. I really do not find it difficult to place the straps in relation to the rubber bands so there is no problems during transport, whereas a zip tie would not slide as easily.
Regarding the other posts, why does any type of rant or suggestion on one specific topic become a general complaint/suggestion thread?

Back when in 2001 I had my dealer order some of those little rubber thingysand they were on back order for 2 months..........when they finally were sent........they were zip ties! $.85 zip ties too boot and in packs of 20! Told the dealer we were bot screwed on that one.

Now we're talking. These are excellent suggestions(most all of which I have already made myself and passed onto the factory) but thanks Mike these are important issues that should be fixed and could be with just a little more effort. Thanks for all the suggestions even the one that started this column about the rubber band. We are pushing very hard to get all these incorporated on future models. We got them to listen on the new TXC250 and it is finally coming with a sidestand. No doubt plenty still to do to get the bikes configured correctly. Please keep the suggestions coming.

I like the rubber bands too...never lost one, but I tie down with soft ties to the forks at the bottm triple.
My couple of suggestions:
1: Push button bleeders stock on all forks.
2: Less brittle plastic...I go through rear fenders and tank shrouds like crazy. KTM buddies- not the case.
3: Double or triple the contingency payouts for D22 Vet B HS and 250B Enduro classes....

I also like those rubber bands. I bought my '01 TE400 used and it had none on the bars. I had Fran Bottone order some and like Joe.... Cagiva USA sent zip ties!

I've been lucky with some of the other things. I did finally break a rear brake pedal tip. Luckily I had the piece and a little welding set it right. A bolt on tip (instead of riveted) that you can buy as a seperate OEM piece would be nice.
