• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Accident on TE630 (Caution! Graphic Photos!)

Nice to hear you're back on two wheels Nick, how did the back brake feel or did you just use the front? Any more news on the pending prosecution? I really hope that doesn't come to anything, we all make mistakes and you've already paid a high price.

'Following your story, trials and travails. It makes me wince! Glad you are back to it and best of luck with the legal stuff.

Ken

Pivot Pegz has been a blessing for my mangled leg... rear brake & shifting is much easier. (in case you did not know).

Thats a hardcore rebuild to your leg Nick, good luck with the continued rehab and I'm going to recommend some mates who ride harleys have a look as they don't do much in the way of protective gear.

So I finally had to go to court today. My Lawyer managed to get the charged dropped from dangerous driving to careless driving last week but thought I would still get a ban. They put up a good fight for me in court today. The judge hesitated for quite a while and kept saying that I should get a ban. He then decided to give me 9 points and a £600 fine. After some more hesitation he reduced it to 8 points and a £450 fine. I'm happy I never got a ban but the whole thing is just so bizarre and blown completely out of proportion. I even had the newspapers waiting outside wanting to interview me and seem to know far too much about the medical facts of my injury. Maybe they are Cafe Husky members?

Still sounds a harsh punnishment to me especially considering what you've been through, and as you say blown out of proportion. Atleast you can carry on ridding and driving but those points on your licence are going to bump your insurance up. I was witness to an accident last year where a good mate lost his leg at the scene in an accident with a car, it was his fault but no charges were even considered. Do you think it was the 3rd party in your case who pushed for conviction? Anyway, onwards and upwards, atleast its all over now.

It was one of the attending policemen that was pushing it. The way it was worded in the police report was ridiculous. Made the local newspapers today.

Yes, I've had my own bitter experience of a very young inexperienced police officer blowing a non- issue situation into a full blown court case.... I always figured I was being used to better their career. Cost me too much to count. Unfortunately I detest and mistrust all Police now. Sun comes up, life goes on. It all passes.

Quite probably they found this thread via the internet search engines - but are probably not members.

Since this thread has their attention, what was the attending policeman's name that was unnecessarily pushing the case? That way the next person he tries to push could find this information and hopefully see a pattern...
