• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Accident on TE630 (Caution! Graphic Photos!)

Very nice porn! So glad you´ve got a Brit attitude and am CERTAIN you´ll be back in the saddle in no time. BTW, my knee´s healing nicely from my last "off". The Arab medic heaved and twisted my leg and pronounced me on the mend. Just hope you reach my ripe old age of nearly 80 but am almost certain that you´re a candidate.

Dude that's harsh, get well soon. Glad you didn't lose the foot. Make it work and get back in the saddle, channel Mick Doohan for motivation. RN

Love your attitude Nick, no wonder your lot beat us in the Rugby. Get well asap and saddle up as soon as you cam Mate.

Still not the sexiest foot I've ever seen but that's a massive improvement on the previous pictures!! There is light at the end of the tunnel and I bet you're glad to be almost out of pain??
Can you walk on it yet? How's the balance etc now the big toe has gone?

No it's not exactly pretty. I can walk on it with a limp as it's really stiff from not being used for 3 months. I don't think balance will be much of an issue. They moved the ball of my foot out wider to compensate. It just feels weird at the moment.

Wow, just wow**************************************** The one thing I am having a hard time getting past is, you didn't go down. Not sure how that is possible. Lets just say your foot wasn't involved at all. To twist that foot peg, rip the pad off the brake and sheer a bolt... How did you not go down????
Ps. Glad you ok, stay strong and your a fricken stud
Thanks for posting, my son is getting his motorcycle lic soon and I will be showing him this thread. Perhaps your courage to post this will help to keep him safe and maybe even save his life

Good luck with healing nick thats an impressive attidute to have. Nice to see youve still got your mind on the bike.

Not sure how I missed this and wished i still did :>) Yuck**************************************** Good luck with that man. WOW.

It all happened so fast. I remember the severe pain looking down and thinking my foot had been taken clean off as I couldn't see it but I could see a lot of blood pouring out. I then looked back to see my shoe bouncing down the road. I pulled into the side of the road and got off the bike then saw that my foot was actually still attached. I presumed I had just broken a bone that had popped through the skin. I didn't even take any morphine until I got to the hospital. I think the shock wore off when I got there as that's when the pain started to really kick in. It wasn't until the doctor said I may lose my foot that I realised the extent of the damage. I had some awesome creative surgeons that have managed to re-build and save my foot.

The only damage to the other car was the wing mirror so I'm not actually sure what my foot hit. It must have been the wheel.

My advice to your son would be... always wear your safety gear. I was only doing about 10mph on impact. It doesn't take much. It freaks me out more than ever when I see someone riding in jeans and t-shirt.

Nick, Glad things are getting better, good job from the staff! Keep the chin up mate! And get back on the horse -carefully!!
Quick side note of a similar incident with no bad physical issues. Just to let others know how easy and quick these things can happen. I was stuck in some Ca. freeway exchange traffic on my FZR1000 Yam circa 1990, the left lane opened up so I jumped (almost literally with the FZR) into the left lane at the same moment a car that was few up ahead did the same. So he was at an angle coming into the lane and I did a dirt bike type ricochet off a tree move, my peg ripped off the mount and my foot was smashed between the bike and the car door (but no worse than any soccer injury). I hit the guy right behind the front door and rode a gouge up right across his door. It was a glancing blow and I was wearing road race boots, plus it was a sheet metal door impact not a solid car part (I was lucky). I never went down it was a good lesson for the value of sliding and offroad reflexes while riding on the street. We both pulled over and he was super apologetic and did not want report the incident, my foot was hurting big time and my peg assy was gone. His car was way worse for wear with a big gouge up the side and even had red boot color marks (yea I had red Vendraminis). After agreeing to not report we both just drove off and I just repaired the bike and I tended to a bruised foot. The boot definitly helped keep the damage to very minimum, any standard footwear and I probably would have broken something.
Get yerself a nice foot massage/physical therapist to get you back to full moto operating mode!!RN

I'm facing an uncalled for dangerous driving charge which comes with some heavy penalties (ban or jail). Trying to get it reduced to a careless driving charge. Young policeman on a mission. The car I hit isn't suing. I'm happy to admit I was in the wrong but I wasn't out to intentionally be a menace on the roads. I have spoken to traffic cops and they said if they had attended it wouldn't have gone anywhere near the courts. I just hope I can get out on the bike before the court date in case they give me a ban.

Wow, this could have been a whole lot worse and I commend you on your positive attitude! Heal up quickly and hope to read about you back on the road soon.

Eric

The thing that bugs me is that after suffering as you have already from your mistake, the legal system will still want to punish you. As if you haven't learned your lesson already. No doubt you will be a better and more cautious rider going forward. Good luck with that.

Hey Nick,
FWIW... When I was 19 I twisted my right ankle fully 270 degrees from it's normal position... On a step ladder that collapsed and jammed my foot in the rungs as I fell backward and flipped over to land on my palms.... My right foot facing a full 180 degrees from the front of my leg...
Anyway, whilst the tissue trauma was very much more severe in your case, I did have seven separate breaks in the ankle bones that had to be put back together. It took a while- probly around 2years for the ankle/leg to feel 'normal' again, but it's now 30 odd years later and apart from the fact my right foot sticks out at a stupid angle (like a duck) when I walk, it really has been as 'good as a bought one', so hang in there mate, it will come good again.
Oh yeah, I had a foot to hip plaster cast for a full 6 months and wasn't allowed to walk on it for all of those six months so the leg wasted away heaps and was very weak and stiff at first. Now it's a tree stump, just like the other one.

My right ankle is about 30% fatter, or wider, if you like than the left- across the bony ankle joint... But so what, it works just fine....

Cheers,
All the best,
ONN

Nice. That sounds far worse than my injury. I'm now up and walking with a shoe on. I don't seem to have any balance issues. Pretty stiff and sore to walk on but they think I'll get full use back.
