• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Got to get out on a short mid-week ride today with CH member Boogie and his new Sherco 300 2T.
We went to a different part of a forest I've spent a lot of time in & he showed me a heap of new tracks. :thumbsup:

The Sherco 300 looks great all shiny & new & Boogie was able to punch it along nicely.
He was kind enough to give me a run on it & I must say I'm impressed with the bike, not enough to covert to 2stroke yet, but it is a nice thing!!

The new tracks were great, however the dust was terrible in spots as the rain we prayed for hasn't come yet. I would just get up to speed & make some time on my new ride buddy & then have a white-out in the dust. :)
One piece of single track has been cut so long through the bush that I had to pull up for a break before it ended. (Soft!!!) ha ha.

Thanks for showing me around your local area, Boogie & for the ride on the new bike.
We'll have to get some bigger rides in soon. :)

No worries DM, it was good fun.

That powdery dust was wild in areas but luckily it wasn't busy out there. Only one large group of bikes and a few 4x4's.

The white Italian has some nice power. Bit smoother ride than the Sherco over the trail trash too. (I need to get clicking after the respring!)

Thanks for braving the sore ribs and coming out for a ride. Will have to get out there again after some rain.
 
Oh and talking about soft... I used soft map through most of the trails.
I flicked it over to full power through the single to catch up a bit but was back to soft after a few tight tree'd corners. Glad you're busted ribs slowed you up :)
 
For a bike that is supposed to be 'too big & heavy' for single track & 'just an open country blaster', I like how the TE449 can pick through the bush.
 
By the way, here's a bit of geology history for you all.
The mountains pictured above are volcanic plugs that formed millions of years ago, now called the "Glasshouse Mountains" The plugs formed then the surrounding land eroded away. There are (approx.?) 11 peaks total. One of them, Mt Tibrogargan, looks like a giant gorilla with a face and all... :)
The Australian mainland does not have any active volcanos now, just a bunch of dirtbikes ripping around and getting covered in ancient red dust. ;)
 
Sorry I missed this troops, had been offline recently, busy at work too.
Was out there last week, was a dust bowl and it's talcum powder soft so the front washes out a fair bit .

Nice bit of rain the last two nights, hopefully it'll settle it down but not enough to fill those massive watering holes ! :D

It'll be a mudfest in the morning.

I want to get out mid afternoon and test suspension. Apparently the sun is coming out tomorrow, it might just dry up a short sandy loop for me.

I was going to go out with them, can't be fooked, I'll golf tomorrow if it's dry, too tired this week, need a rest.
