• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A bad crash and another not so much.

Be sure to stay with it till just past 5mins. This video is hard to believe.

I hate to say it, but I may have laughed just a little bit (until I realized it wasn't good Karma) when I saw this one:

That first one is scary! I was in Moab last month for 3 days and rode by myself two of the days. I accidentally wound up on some singletrack on the side of a mountain where I shouldn't have been. It went from a Jeep trail, to a quad trail then to a very narrow shelf. If I would have gone over the side, I would have been dead. I came around a turn and there was a huge boulder blocking the trail. I had to back up until I was able to make a 20 point turn. It was probably the most scared, I've ever been in my life.

I was affected by the first one too, put the second video in to lighten it up.
Being loaded heavy in a DS ride gets tiring and after a few days especially, mistakes can happen. Makes me think twice about some of the things I do solo.

Wowo... Congratulations on being alive and walking ..... Next, that is exactly why do not ride alone ..

You should dropped the bike over at the point where you went right on the high side of the trail (5:08) ... Picking the bike back up and going straight was a death move that your escaped ... Good luck in the riding in the future and remember, you spent 1 of your lives there ...

Thanks Ray for the concern, but you must have a bad connection of some sort, because that wasn't me.
I would like to say that I have watched it at least 15 times and agree with you. Flopping the bike on the ground after choosing the wrong line would have been much better than what resulted.:) He was tired after days on end of riding and recovering from being sick.
I would think if he could it over that he would flop if he headed off course..
Amazing Video IMO.

that was epic man! fricken lucky you could easily have been brown bread. injuries? howd the bike end up? im guessing busted front wheel, maybe triples, steering stem or the like?

After I'd realised they weren't hurt, is it bad to say that I laughed pretty hard at their dramas.

What happened to his buddy riding behind him ? After he went off the edge I'm thinking his friend would be down there lending a hand.
Definitely a scary situation to be in. I'm curious how the bike was after that.

If you go back to the video, there is "more information" to click on and links to follow up with. His buddy did ride past and returned after Joe made it up to the road and the day was saved. Cool story.
