  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I recently sold my 98 to a good friend of mine and a question in regards to plastics came up. I know very little about these bikes as I most of my interest goes into the swedes or my new te300. So the question is what plastics off of some of the newer Italian bikes will bolt up to this beast with little or no modding if any? I know the tank will most likely be swapped which is okay. Any input is appreciated.

Not much later stuff does, the tank subframe and seat along with shrouds all changed about 99-2000. Then they all changed too red stuff about five years or so after.

Swap to 99 subframe? I think the red and white stuff might be what he is after if it can be done? Newer subframe tank and seat? It's got 99 plastics on it now but they aren't in the greatest shape

98 and 88 are virtually identical
2000 was a big change, minor through 08 or something like that

95-99 plastic shrouds are capable of being swapped, 95-99 everything else is the same, 92 to 99 rear fenders will swap, front fenders is just what style you want to see

The 2k onwards subframe were slightly narrower and shorter in terms of mounting plastics, you can fir 2k plastics on the 95-99 subframe but you'll need a bit of cutting and heating/bending to shape it...from memory the 2k shrouds will fit the tank but you'll need to fab some mounting brackets, can't remember but it will be on this site:D

There is mate and if you have the original plastics, store them as they are brittle as hell these days... doing this to my 95 as l've killed the plastics.

Do you or your mate a favour and buy a YZF front fender, 2k tank shrouds and side plates and WR300 rear guard...good sticker kit and ride.
