• 4 Stroke Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Italy - About 1989 to 2014
    TE = 4st Enduro & TC = 4st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

9 Hours on 2013 TXC310, Very Disapointed in this bike

I can assure you that my post was not to bitch, It was to inform people what I have gone through with 9 hours on a bike, I have spent way to many hours reading all the x-lite threads on this forum trying to figure it out. The fact is it is a POS. Just look at the replies from this post. I can not get the parts I need,

And to top it off I cant put any weight on my right ankle this morning, It kicked backed like I have never seen in 30 years on a dirtbike, WTF

My guess with out even looking at it is maybe I have a sheared flywhhel key and it is out of time
If I could give an outside suggestion...see if you can find someone with a late model 2 stroke husky who's looking for a 4 stroke. I have a friend who races a 310 and its not always reliable...however, he is still in 1st this year in our class. I have had 4 huskys now and I am not a fan of some of the workmanship/issues with the Italian built bikes. That being said, I have owned Italian bikes from other brands and I knew what I was getting in to when I bought my first Husky in 2007. It is the cost of being a little different or unique that brought me to Aprilia and Husky among others. I wish you luck with your 310. The problems you're having are unacceptable.

Sorry to hear about all these problems. I am very happy with mine and have had zero problems as of yet (knocking on wood). Hopefully you all can get resolutions to your problems and can get out on the trail/track with the confidence your bike will do as you request. No idea how many hours I have, has to be quite a few, already replaced the rear tire and now getting ready to replace the front. I'm going to guess and say I have close to 40+ hours on it and other then hitting a tree in 3rd gear and busing my number plate and front fender support (black thing on the fender) i have not had any real problems.

Oh wait, there is one thing that really does suck, when i'm standing doing the single track, my foot will sometimes hit and ride the rear break, i don't have the ability to lower it as needed due to it not having any more room to adjust. I plan on taking the rod off and grinding it down 1/8 of an inch and see if that helps...

Oh hell no... Best move they could do is refine this line.

Word from some reliable sources is KTM just wanted the name and considered the Husky technology to be worthless. Plans I heard are to scrap the entire lineup and build it Austrian style.

That makes sense. I mean why would KTM want Husky tech?

Since 2010, we have gone from the factory Husqvarna race team to now R&D. I believe I have seen just about everything fail on these bikes up until now. There are some really good things about this platform and there are some not so good things. I always suggest iridium plugs and earthx lithium batteries. The TE’s have three ecu maps available while the txc’s have two, all of which are mediocre at best. The ability to tune each motorcycle should have been given without question and is why we have always resorted to aftermarket ecus. Hopefully DynoJet is able to produce a product line for the MY13s soon. Updated starter gears are available from Husqvarna, if not, Bills motorcycle plus has updated gears available. Breaking the flywheel key does happen and we have created a simple tool that allows you to tighten without breaking. Both BMP and Hall’s has this tool and they are also available to CH members.

That's not quite accurate. SP wanted the name back on the Husaberg model line and will be discontinuing the Italian Husqvarna line. The new Husqvarna line will be temporarily Husabergs, but will move away from KTM styling. Husqvarna parts pipelines will be opened and centrally managed to increase availability for both older and new models.

Ed,

If it kicked back like that, I'd look at the flywheel.
There is a good chance it spun on the crank and sheared off the woodruff key.
That advances the IGN timing and causes the motor to kick back before TDC...not to mention making the E-start unworkable.

Check it out.

Stopped at my dealer on the way home, He Claims that he can not get parts, I called Halls he says he gets parts every day.. What is the real story,

My dealer told me 3 months ago that HUSKY would take care of my starter problem with the updated parts, Not sure if that is true or not.

I need a phone number for someone in charge of this stuff,, Can anyone help with that?

I had a Husqvarna power sports dealership 45 minutes from me in NH, and they recently stopped supporting/parts for the offroad bike portion in the past couple years (only chainsaws and lawnmowers), then one of the dealerships in MA wasn't exactly helpful in getting my bike to run better (diagnosing) or extra parts. So basically I have to get support or parts from Halls in Illinois. I haven't in a year or so, but when I did need the help, they were very good about everything. Unfortunately though, at least in the Northeast from my experience, knowledgeable and helpful dealerships for the off road Husqvarna bikes is few and far between. Just from my experience... I wouldn't panic quite just yet - I'd try to get the parts from Halls.

I was hoping to have the parts taken care of by Husky like my dealer said, I usally do all my own work

I spoke to Eric at Town and Country in New Jersey, He has the parts in stock and will submit to Husky to see if they will take care of it. I can drop the bike off any day,
Anyone have a bad experiance with Town and Country, I have heard good things

If you want a KTM go buy a KTM.

My point still stands...their is nothing on a husqvarna bike that KTM's don't have. I will take up for them because I've seen everyone seem to hate on them here. Not many other brands, just the KTM's it seems like, and I don't know why. Btw I wanted a KTM but they were just out of my budget.

Ed, I am sorry for your troubles. I can vouch for Hall's having parts on hand or able to get them quickly. I have a
couple of newer huskys, and my friends at the club own some, parts are ordered on the phone, and usually on my
doorstep in a day or two. I have been lucky along with my friends. We buy from halls and the bike are proper when
you buy them, and their shop is top notch.

I wanted a Husaberg FE350 but then I rode the TE310R and preferred it. I felt the Husky handled better.... thats something :excuseme:

Connor, your probably right, KTM builds some great motorcycles. I like the sight for information and the comraderie
of others who have enthusiasm for the brand. I think that is what the site is about, so opinions about whatever
brand is probably stuff for adventure sites etc...where debate of brands is common discussion. Go to KLR.net
and tell those guys their riding outdated, slow overweight, outdated dogs and they will crucify you. Same on
KTM talk to I am sure, some of like these things, warts and all, that's just the way it is, if I did not like my huskys, I
would sell, and get something else. In 40+ years of riding I have been lucky enough to have enough money and time
To buy and ride just about every brand of bike. For some stupid reason, I really connect with my huskys, just the
way it is.

Did someone say Husqvarna had something KTM doesn't?
What problems have you had with your Husky?

I have a TE250 and a YamiWR450F.. I just really like the Community here, and much of the knowledge/discussions can be applied to various other brand dirt bikes as well. I can't stand humpertalk...I mean thumper talk ;)

KTMS are great bikes too but they also are a bit more expensive. I have a KTM dealership within walking distance from me but I don't care to buy their over priced bikes. I've always thought dirt bikes should remain at the 5k range but I guess inflation and other factors prevents such dreams. To me, a dirt bike will always need slight mods and parts replaced. So in that regard, it's hard to justify paying 10k for a dirt bike (cough cough KTM)..

I've had a few quibbles with my TE250 and frustrations but overall it's a fun and easy bike to ride. I want it to be perfect and maybe that's where my frustrations come into play. I pay good money for a bike, I want it to run flawlessly (I'll keep dreaming)..

Comparing bikes:
My brother-in-law just bought a new KTM 500 exc-f , the dual sport. A lot of similar problems to the Huskys...side stand flips up when you don't want it to, it won't idle, it's too dang tall, it flames out all the time...etc. He'll need a JD tuner, a seat, and some other goodies to make it a normal bike... too bad he paid over $10K for it.

Not to get too far off-topic, but my 1997 KDX200 with later model USD forks has never had a failure of any sort. Never, nunca, nope...nada..... and it still runs strong with the normal maintenance of air filter and oil changes....AND it is still by far the fastest of all the bikes I've ever owned in the tight technical stuff . It came std with a seat that was firm but wide, a seat height of about 36.5 to 37 inches, a mere pipe change with reeds and it puts out mid-thirties HP.
So where's the progress? LOL...

I bought my 09 TE310 to ride to the local off-road park and do some single-track. So far I'm liking it... a bit heavy but a good package with some inexpensive (oil height and type) suspension tweaking. With the powerup kit, a JD tuner, and a Leo Vince pipe it puts out about the same HP as my modded 2001 KDX220. No kidding.
