  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey everyone, where can I get clutch plates and springs here in the USA? Tried husqvarna-parts.com and ebay and nothing.. Was wondering if another bike uses the same clutches.. Thanks

In the upper right of husqvarna-parts.com "engine/tranny" page you will see the option to scroll to page 2, you will see them there. Looks like clutch plates only, no springs.

Well I feel like a dummy!! Never saw that icon in the corner of husqvarna parts.com!! Duh!!! Thanks Gary!! One question: steel or fibre? What are the benefits of each? Thanks again!!

Actually i missed it, they do have the springs listed there too. I think you maybe confused, you have fiber clutch plates and steel or aluminum drive plates that make up the entire stack. Usually the question is why steel when the originals were aluminum, at least up through '84. I assume your bike probably had aluminum. Steel is heavier, more rotational weight but aluminum contaminates the oil quickly.

Remember you need to adjust the fiber stack depending on whether your using steel (thinner plates) or aluminum as well.

also the alu plates like to stick and drag...i recently switched to the steels and love em. everything adjusted up nicely..any pics of the bike?

on the subject of clutches, has anyone fitted up one of those "Black Magic" recluse clutches to a left kicker?

the aluminum plates in these bikes were for weight reduction due to inertia as adam6402 stated, but aluminum expands more than steel and as time goes on they also warp as well as the adjustment to compensate becomes more difficult so unless you really have a bug for original I suggest the steel ones as you will find the clutch works smoother with the steel ones

Also with Husqvarna-parts.com, if you do not find what you are seeking on the website, send an email to him and ask. He has many items not listed on the website.
