• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

85-88 6 speed tranny's

transmission swaps fron 87-88 use many of the same parts up to a 98, not sure of the difference on the shaft but most of the gears themselves use the Swedish numbers
5 to 6 spring swap, first off you need a six spring clutch cover, 2nd if you properly shim the shaft you can swap them in, the 5 spring uses a clip to hold the clutch and the 6 spring uses a nut we put a 6 spring in my brothers 85 CR500 and it worked fine, but if not shimmed properly you will not get the clutch to disengage

ONLY on the 4t!!!

Andy

one of my 84 CR250s is running the 6 spring clutch, so must be possible.

I never fitted it so dont know that much about it. But it am getting disengaging issues. Still working on that....

darren its absolutely possible by swapping everything over from the 6 spring setup. what we are learning is that the clutch itself could work with the older tranny. do you know if your clutch is held on with a nut or circlip?

consider taking off the side case and check the end play, if it's too great it takes too much movement to begin clutch disengagement

From memory its a nut holding the clutch on.

What am I meant to be checking play wise?

I certainly need to resolve the issue as its a nightmare to launch off the gate at the moment

when you say "ONLY on the 4t" do you mean the 98 4t, the 2t use a Cagiva box
kind of curious if anyone has the changeover for the 82-98 gearbox interchangeability

You should be able to switch the 6 speed out of the 4Ts until 2002 not just 1998. Oh yes, 4T means 4 stroke. 2T = 2 stroke.
