• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

83 cr500 one worthy of some love and tlc

This may sound a little nuts, but I kind-of like that blue frame color (I'm not saying I'd paint my own frame that way, but if I had it, and the paint was in decent shape, I might just keep the color)!

Take your time on the bike, these projects can be a lot of fun!

I can't for the life of me think why people paint frames, forks and other parts stupid colours, I think it looks bad, but that's just my opinion.
Congrats on the purchase, and let us know how it comes along, don't forget to add lots of photos, we like photos!

if the paint was better id consider or a nicer color but ive a new tank and seat so i really want to have it mint original
when i have the engine rebuilt im testing that in the donor bike so im having that bike as a museum model for shows etc

some bikes ie nice jap 90s bikes in off standard colours and some look v v nice but in my opinion the 83 cr can only look like original
i have spare wheels and plan painting the rims black and a pair of yellow fork gators to match in with the number boards
im going to document the entire build here as ive seen another one done here and its given me the push to do mine
mick

i intend painting the frame in 2k white as opposed to plastic coat
reason for this is i might race the bike so redoing paint will be easy
anyone an opinion on this ?

rims are in very good original condition with a good clean
engine cases cleaned up v nice too
im hoping to leave the engine paint alone as i think it looks better in that aged used patina
my exhaust is in amazingly good soild condition so im going to copy that and put together on the bike
might run off a batch of them in 12g steel as i havent seen any pipes that look as good as the original
again your opinions on this ??

youre saying you want to replicate the 500 chambers? im sure youll find a few takers!

RODE IT HE SAID POWERFULL YOKE HE SAID:thinking:
DID in his h:censored:e
after an hour of kicking finally she barked into life on the choke ran rough and idled a little high till then cut the choke she died
a few kicks more and outside to get the fresh air she fired up again on the choke this time i gave it a rev to get the choke off and leave it idle
instead it reved its hole off and as their was no kil button i had to lay it on its side to starve it
base gasket was left out of the sandwich was an easy cop as i felt the air pulse while i was trying to kill it
all sorted now so fire it up tomorrow
on a brighter note its got a v fresh piston , id go as far as to say new condition
try get a video of the bike running tomorrow with my pipe on
pipe had no packing and a ball od shite so my ears are ringing hours later but still a nice feeling getting to hear it run

only its a parts donor bike and i needed it id of probably strapped the seller to it and see how he gets on with a wide open throttle and no kill switch
he swore he rode it and suggested i tow start it ****************************************
obviously he hadnt a notion how to start a bike
id ring him up only i really dont know what to say********************************************************************************!
loose rear wheel and a slow puncture that stays hard for less than 3 mins
missing front split pin on front brake lever
base gasket drawing air and no kill switch
death trap********************************************************************************!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead::oldman:
