  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

82 husqvarna cr shocks??

Bigbill

Husqvarna
Pro Class
I'm looking for replacement new rear shocks for my 82 husqvarna.
I used the progressive gas shocks on my 79 390cr and they worked great.
Do they offer replacement new shocks for my 82? I can't find anything longer than 15". I believe I need 17"?

I just found the progressive Freon #13 shocks 17.5" long. And the springs for a 200+ lb. Rider.
I used these before with the correct spring weight. They were awesome on my 390cr and my 250or.

I'm not sure nowadays if there is anything different. If I purchase used online at the high price today then rebuild them I'm beyond the cost of the new progressives.

Building this bike piece by piece isn't too bad money wise. The biggest expense so far is the engine and the shocks. But with the engine rebuilt and all the bearings and seals replaced in the whole bike with the forks rebuilt, New tires and tubes. Ill have a decent looking dependable husky. The paint goes on last. I don't spare the $$ when it comes to my complete restorations.

When I'm done it will be a fun ride.

whats wrong with the ohlins it had? i had new progressive suspension shocks on my 79 250. while they were ok, they didnt come close to properly set up original equipment..i was young and didnt know better but i would have been better off putting the money into rebuilding my stockers. many wish their bikes had ohlins come stock..

I'm putting together a 82 430 buying a part at a time. I'm thinking and looking for info on the shocks.
The rear shocks cost more than the complete engine.

I just found the original olin shocks for my project bike. I got lucky.
