• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

81 husqvarna 250cr

I just picked up a running 81 husqvarna 250cr complete engine that has compression and ignition. My last 81 250cr husqvarna was a screamer. I hope to restore and relive this awesome ride. My last 81 250cr never lost a drag race. I know of never should of sold it. I regret it now. Does anyone have a 81 250cr husqvarna? This is the last of the older style case engine with the larger stud location and the largest transfer ports of its time. She's a flyer for sure.

This is the last of the 250 left kickers that starts through the clutch.

The '82 250 had the newer case we could kick start in gear.

I haven't heard good things about the early 125's. Maybe the guy had not set it up right.
I don't understand that little motor in a big frame?

Right the case/kick starting system was introduced in '82 on the 250. Wasn't the 430 offered first with the primary system? The 125 case was changed in 85? I had a 85 125 that ran great. I traded it to a kid for a Honda 250cr. These kids have no clue to use a mix ratio cup. He broke down on the trail. The engine was so hot the crank bearing had enough play it hit the stator. When it cooled down there was no play in the bearing.
He mixed the 2t oil by eye. Straight gas, the gas was clear, no oil. I rode the 125 everyday for six months prior. Another one I should of kept.

The exterior of the 125 cases did not change, they looked the same, but in '84 Husky modified the internals so the '84 125LC had primary kick. Yes, the 430 was the first with primary kick in '81, 250 the next year.

Just added another bike to my build list the 81 250cr husqvarna.

82 430 cr build
82 420 cr build
84 250 wr w/o restore/rebuild.
430 wr extra engine maybe in a 82 cr frame.

So far.

great looking bike 310. all the swedes have a very well balanced simplistic beauty to them, but the last of the silver frames were a great example. great proportions

thats disgusting bill....probably another reason 2 smokes arent in favor like they were. i actually enjoy mixing that castor up...surprise, huh? long ago i stole one of my moms pyrex glass cups to be dedicated as my "ratio rite"

These kids don't think. The kid I purchased the 84/250wr from mixed it without the ratio cup too but way too rich he killed every bug that flies for acres. The second it was smoking he sold the bike to me. We drained the gas and put 30-1 mix with some jetting and she's fine. I education the boys who ride near me right away the next day they had a ratio cup. I'm going to jet all my husqvarna bikes 2t to the original 20-1 with maxima 927 castor. Longevity is running the correct ratio mix using castor.

We took moms Pyrex measuring cup too. Well my wife donated it to our cause, cause we had nothing else.

I think two strokes can be finicky when it comes to jetting. We jet it, it runs great in the morning by mid afternoon when it warms up the balance changes. I quick tweeking of the balance screw out to lean it and she's dead nuts again it's that simple.
But fuel injection on a 2t clears up that problem?

I really want a street legal 2t with e start, 300 cc, with oil injection and fuel injection.
That's what husqvarna I'm waiting for. The beta x trainer has it. Oil injection takes the mixcology out of it. The old Suzuki ts bikes had double throttle cables. One went to the carb and the other cable controlled the amount of oil the pump pumped for the oil injection. The amount of oil was controlled by the throttle/rpm.

i hear you bill but i certainly wouldnt hold your breath. im surprised youre even allowed to sell 2 strokes anymore.
lectron carbs are set and forget, no adjustment needed for temp changes during the day or even seasons hardly. was surprised going between 30s temp in the winter and 60s now. the lectron doesnt care. i cant wait to get them on my older bikes now.
as much as you want to make these things rip bill im surprised you arent checking these out. the external powerjet adjustment is awesome and no jets to deal with. its pretty interesting how simple they operate but the results you get are not simple!

310,,,, my 81 250cr had the smaller red and silver tank. I ported the cylinder and changed the port timing. I advanced the timing a tad more. After jetting it it was an animal. My son was the pilot on it. I told him I picked up a 81 250cr engine he was happy.

My 81 250cr engine showed up today usps. The mailman dropped it on the ground xcdsdgtrfbuygjiijmk****************************************! I need to inspect it.
