    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

78 CR250 Front Brake Shoe Width

Does any one know the correct part # for the front brake shoes? My bike seems to have the narrow width hub and shoes,my parts book shows the same part# for front and rear (15 16 543 01) I have checked the parts books from 76 forward and they show the same part #. I have a 79 250WR and it has the wider hub and the parts book shows the above # also. The width of the original front shoe is approx 24.5 MM and all the newer aftermarket shoes are 25mm. I know that they went to a wider shoe on the rear for 78.

Bill, I have my 77 250CR apart right now and like you, I thought the 78"s were wider. The 78 hub is wider for sure.
I also have a set of 83 250 XC rear shoes that are the same width as my 77's (.980" roughly 25mm) both front and rear are the same. No numbers on the shoes.

Ron, it seems I have a narrow hub on the front and a wide one on the back. I discovered this when I ordered some new shoes for the front and the rear. The shoes I got are EBC 801G which are listed for all the Huskys. The size according to the EBC catalogue is 25mmx 162mm. The only way I could get them to work was change the backing plate,it seems that the bushing in the original is shorter than the one I borrowed from a friend. I got the brakes to work but there is a definite difference in the front hub width from 78 to 79 but still call for the same part #.The hub on the left is from the CR and the hub on the right is from my 79WR.
