7602 Case savers for 610!

I had a BMP saver, and ordered a 16t front sprocket, and they didn't think it would fit. 7602 said theirs might work, but if it didn't, they would let me return it. So, I ordered one.
Funny thing is, I still haven't received my 16t sprocket but I got the 7602 saver and it looks like the exact same size as my BMP. So, technically, I don't need it. I have to admit, it looks so cool, I'm keeping it. (I think this is the only part on my 610 that is pure bling, since I already had a saver.)

I would like to order one of your case savers ASAP. I'm sure by now you have the size/fit corrected. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. I think I will also do the oil filter cover to even out the color on both sides. Both in red please!

Just installed mine plus rad braces and guards. This is a 15 tooth sprocket on an 08 610.

Just received mine and the problem with it in my mind is not in its great looks but that you now cannot put the black plastic sprocket guard back on - WTF?
Some may want to show it off but not all. I am sure I can once again modify and do the R&D for a vendor but not everyone wants an open sprocket to potentially grab something (those shoe laces of your trainers when you nip to the shop or tracksuit pants ...) or allow free ankle chain whiplash if it does break?

It's not just for show. It's to clear mud. Leave the plastic guard on there in some mud and it will quickly clog up with crap.

You shouldn't be wearing your trainers and tracksuit pants on a motorcycle, anyway.

The least I wear are heavy work boots and denim jeans. Then I throw a velcro strap around my ankle (reflective thing you can get at a bike shop for a few bucks) to keep my jeans out of the chain and go.

Also, as said by Motosportz, that flimsy little plastic guard isn't going to stop your chain from whipping you in the leg.

Now if 7602 would make me one for my 630...

Thanks 7602!! I just received your shipment and only took 2-3 days. The quality of your product is 2nd to none!! Very nice doing business with you guys! Look I am the first to wear ATGATT but lets be honest this is a DS bike. Many of us will jump on the bike for a short spin not always wearing heavy boots and riding pants - I am not saying slops and shorts but maybe something slightly more casual than full ATGATT. This is where this setup IMHO becomes a safety issue - after all as I said this is not a stripped down MX bike. I support the notion of the case saver - that is why I ordered one and had it shipped across the world to me! I just think a setup that could retain the plastic cover would look more finished - I do not really buy the mud clog-up argument either... certainly not experienced this yet with my bike or read reports of it?? Yes it will be easier to expel mud and clean if open but not sure this is a good enough reason for me to take the risk. A far more real possibility for me is that tall buffalo grass and small branches etc could become caught up there as well ... footpegs have a way of hooking this stuff in (that is why people use a brake-snake).

OK so here a constructive suggestion - how about a version that has the case saver part and then an integrated smaller section that covers the sprocket ... this can be relatively open or drilled for easy cleaning of mud but still offer a bit more protection? Or better still it can have the H logo cutout into it = how cool and practical would that be? Maybe I should sell the idea ...

Here's an example, 15 minutes away from my house. That stuff was like concrete. I had to remove that plastic sprocket cover and dig the mud out with a garden hose and a stick. That was the last time I rode with that plastic cover in place.

After the following gravel ride, it was also packed with rocks.

1) one of these day's I'll get around to buying a 630 and then we'll make a case saver for the 630's
2) we actually looked at making side covers for the 610/630's but that is a huge chunk of aluminum. It's do able, but we're talking big $$$$$. Like well over 200 bucks probably closer to 300.

Ok so earlier I commented about the case saver not allowing for retrofitting the plastic sprocket boot guard. Claims were made it offered no protection and was a mud collector... well there is lots of room in there behind that guard and I feel happier with it in place (there is a reason bikes have them IMHO). An integrated saver maybe bracing to the upper roller with some open sprocket cover is still the answer iMHO.

Anyway I decided to modify the cover to fit over the case saver and I document here for anyone interested. Looking at the rear of the fitting one sees that there are two locating lugs with SS ferule inserts - these need to be trimmed by the length of the two alu spacers that come with the case saver kit. Then another small piece of plastic needs to be trimmed from the remaining length of locating lugs to expose the ferule to fit into the countersunk front of the saver (where the allen bolt heads would be recessed). A bit of trimming of the upper plastic edge was also done so the saver would sit flush. All this was done with a Dremel. Slightly longer allen bolts are recommended.
