• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

76 360wr speedometer

Dillon

Husqvarna
AA Class
looking for a speedometer for my 360wr, if anyone has one for the earlier or later models that you'd be willing to part with let me know.
i would assume earlier and later models 1970-1979 would probably fit the cable i have

Up to about 1980 they have the same thread for the cable (M12x1.50). After that they went to a finer thread. So your existing cable won't fit.
I know, as I have been hunting for one for my 78 Auto build. Both the speedo heads and the cables fetch good money. I managed to find a second hand speedo in the U.S. ...... eventually !
Most Euro enduro bikes from the mid 70's were fitted with the same VDO unit. Look for KTM and Penton units too.

Thanks, yeah all I need is the speedometer itself. Mine I beleive is a mid
80s unit with the smaller diameter peice in the back. Guess I'm selling that one if anyone needs one. If I can't find one for a decent price I'll be putting a bultaco speedometer on it

Call North Hollywood speedometer and clock in L/A California,
They fixed mine and had new ones on the self, sent another member over there and he got one

I believe it is also matched to the gear ratio on the front axle. Mine both 1979 250WR and 1983 250WR were fixed by them. There is a ratio # sampled into the bottom of the speedo to match what is on the axle.
TOP NOTCH WORK!
May seam pricey to you,but when you put it on your bike and everything works it more than worth it.
My 1979 VDO unit had cracked glass (I dropped it off bike while drinking in the garage) they relaced the glass, and had the special tool to put a ring over the glass, 100%
1983 VDO had a broken needle which spun like a propeller, needed an internal spring, now 100%
I was surprized that they knew what I was talking about and Husqvarna
A "Shout out" to Phillip @ Husqvarna-parts who sent me there

I've got a 1979 one, the housing got some dents, think it still works, cause if I spin the insert the speedo needle moves.

If you want it fixed, they will do a 100% job on it. I had both of mine, just wanted them like new, they did it.

My problem is I don't even have the correct one. Mines a more modern one that won't mount to the cable

I was referring to Husky Johns and if he was to sell it to you, it could be made 100% or used as is

I have a newer one I took off a older bike, Its like mid-later 80s. It has dual scales on it (MPH/KPH)
they? wrapped electrical tape around the hub under the speedo to get the older cable to screw on, it worked but was BUTCH
I think it was from a L/C, single shock, WR 1987
