  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

75 250 WR Gearing

Good day...
Getting started on a 1975 250 WR (6 speed Mag engine) fix up for CC racing.

Just wondering...what is standard gearing on these?

Mine has an 11/56 combination.

Thanks, Richard

Hall's Husqvarna had an on line parts list. I think new it came with a parts kit. A couple of tools and 10, 11, and 12 came in the kit. I have a 75 wr and am running 10/56. It is not geared too low. 11/56 will most likely work. 6th gear is still fast. These bikes were very popular for desert racing because they could be geared to run very fast and the front end was raked out so it was stable. Stock shocks were 12". I'm running 13.5 shocks and forks slid up in the clamps about 3/4 inch. I got my information from Larry Stahl, son of Forrest Stahl and Huskyjunk. They both have great information. This is almost a cheater bike it is so good. It is considered like design per AHRMA rules because it is almost the same as a 74 250 mag. You have a great find. If you have any questions let me know. I have already been through it. Jeff

Great info Jeff, thanks!
I'd have guessed 11/56 was too low, but I'll stay with that gearing to get started.
I'm also looking at using longer shocks (I have a pair of rebuilt 14 1/4" Curnutts) to get that front end tucked in a bit.
