• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

6th Annual 2012 North East Husky Gathering

The car pooling is something we thought about in ast events and we tried to "link-up" folks. This good natured thought and intent met a snag as there was no effective way for us to do this as sharing contact info on this forum and other like it was met with resistance by some and also to "broker" this took time. Aside from doing what Rob did above and then the parties PMing each other, I do't see another alternative. Thoughts? We even tried to solicit gas stations for fuel cards to give to the "furthest traveled" but gas companies stink for swag.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but I've been meaning to ask this for a while... Could anyone say how large of a riding area you had?

We have had and used 3 different areas for the 6 events and each has had a 7 mile minimum loop. If you want acreage...I would guess like 150 minimum

I was mentioning what we used. There were more at each place but cutting single track takes time and depending on hay season....pastures are off limits

Got it...I'd have no way to estimate how much we actually rode on. There is a lot of land there and Walter told me we didn't see 1/5 of what he has laid out there!

Anyone know if he bought a 310?

Any tentative dates for this year? Does the location switch every year?

Rumor has it that high level discussions are taking place now regarding location and dates. I can't reveal my source, but it is a really good one. I also heard S.P. was thinking of heading over from Austria, but that was a friend of a friend who worked at a motorcycle plant in India—something could have been lost in translation....
