• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

630 SM - 45mph low side oil coming through airbox

TardMan630

Husqvarna
B Class
Went down the other morning, front tire gave out and the bike slid about 100ft and i went along for the ride for 75ft of it. Handgaurds, sliders and peg took all the damage but quite a bit of oil did come out of the airbox. So do i just clean out the airbox and change filter or is there more to be done.

Any help is much appreciated.2012-11-21_07-38-17_873.jpg2012-11-21_08-30-12_520.jpg2012-11-21_08-30-19_411.jpg

Besides what you mentioned, you may need to change the engine oil or at least ensure the engine has adequate oil level.

The oil you found coming out of the airbox was from the engine.

If I were you I would be glad you did not get injured. Bike parts can be replaced.

Do you know what contributed to the low side? oil on road? tires not warmed up? just too hot into the corner?

Looks familiar, but it was about 50mph on the left side. Hit grass dirt after ~25ft of sliding. I was off the bike in a log roll instantly, and my peg slider, handguard and passenger peg tool all the damage, only had to replace the passenger peg, as it was DESTROYED and curled up behind the footpeg. Had a little scrub on the rear axle slider. It was up near you west of 215 near the Gorges.

How do you and your gear look?

I guess the tires weren't warmed up enough because as soon as i went to hit the turn the front tire jumped out from under me. As far as myself i walked away without a scratch thanks to my gear.

That's good to hear, gear is cheaper than skin...

Aight so Where's a good place to pick up oil filters and what type of oil are u guys running

Oh boy, you just opened a can of worms...

Personally, I order a few filters at a time from Ebay or Halls, and I'm running Castrol 4T Race 10W40, 10W50 in the summer. It's ~$14 a quart, but I get much longer life on it than any other oil I've tried. You can tell the oil's giving out when the shifts start feeling more clunky and the clutch slip starts feeling different. I'll run the Castrol to around 1800 miles, whereas with oils like Rotella T6, I was changing at around 1000...
