    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Does anyone know where I can get a new rear fender for my SM 630? I was trying to clean the stickers off of the rear fender last night, and I used goo gone to remove the glue residue and it took the gloss off of the fender. Anyone know what they use to make the plastics shiny? I have used goo gone on all kinds of applications including motorcycle body work and have never had that reaction before...Thanks in advance.
 
Plastic polish should get it shiny again, something like Plast-x

Hall's Cycle should be able to get you any plastics if you go that route...

But it's supermoto, it's not supposed to be shiny :p
 
Yea good thinking I'll try the plast x. And I know its not supposed to be shiny but it only has 700 miles on it. Went from having a nice shiny new fender to crap in 30 seconds or less lol. Ever get your vinyl on? I am still thinking about sending mine off to get hydrographic printed, but ran into money issues.

Did you get it from Halls?? I spoke to a buddy of mine that works at a motorcycle dealership and he said the plastic is so shiny because they use a pledge like cleaner on the plastic to shine them up...so I bought some pledge and we will see I suppose. Ill let you all know what happens. Ive used it on my haggard ass YZ plastic before that was getting all flat and it made it shiny...

No, I got it from Lang's off road shop. Rob's shop is only a few mins down the road for me. I removed a fender bag from my rear fender ...no more need for it and was left with 3 years of wear and 4 mounting holes. Yes use pledge ...makes things new again. The sticker is scanned and vinal is on the bike. yes I have seen them on ebay ..great deal ..lol ...10 bucks for the decals , est shipping 13.00 oh don't forget hst at 13% for us canadians ....they get you no matter what...pffff. I'd rather buy from dealer anyways.
 
Well I've tried plastic polish, rubbing compound, cleaner wax, regular wax, pledge and nothing has done even a little bit to bring any amount of shininess back to it. I know I am being anal, but I ride street only and I like to keep my bikes clean and the rear fender now looks like I took 120 grit to it. So does anyone have any idea what they spray on the plastic to make it so shiny? Because the goo gone apparently stripped it clean off.
 
I have done the heat gun on other plastics that were in rough shape such as the one in the video, neat trick. This fender isnt in rough shape at all, it only had 500 miles on it, the rest of the plastics are pristine, the only thing I can discern is they must have sprayed some extremely weak clearcoat on it that isn't goo gone safe apparently..lol
 
The rear guard on my 630 has dulled compared to the front.I have used various plastic safe cleaners/protectors and have never got it back to the full lustre .Silicon based tyre shine has worked on other plastics but not quite as well on the 630.The heat gun can be used on discolored plastics ,took the discoloration out of a front guard of a klr that had been bent in a crash and lightened at the crease marks.Not to worried about my 630 it's a dirt bike.
Keep us updated if you have some success in bringing back the shine
 
Mine did the same when I sprayed a CRC water repellent type product on my 1 week old 449 , to keep it "pristine"
I've done the same thing to all the dirt bikes I've owned in the past, to keep them rust free & help with the post dirty ride clean up & never had an issue.
My TE449 ,wherever the CRC went , the plastics went dull as if they'd been scoured for painting & NOTHING brings the shine back. Polishes I've tried , that work on other plastic, actually dulled the Husky even more!!!:banghead:
Spent that much on polishes, sprays, cleaners etc etc , I probably coulda bought new plastics lolol Accumulated that many products trying, that at least all the plastics on my car will look like new for years to come!
Would love to know how they get the shine from factory?????:excuseme:

Yeah, I'm another who can attest to the fact that plastic polish (and other things like) really don't help w/ the Polisport plastics. Bummer. I was refueling my TE a few months ago and noticed gas was dripping quick/generously from the nozzle (on the handle side of the splash-back guard of the nozzle) and drizzling down the side of the red fuel tank side panel. Now I have a large area that looks faded and rough. So of course I thought "hmmm, plastic polish has always worked wonders" and now I have an even larger dull/faded area. :)

In the end I agree w/ WickedWill- it's a dirt bike. Shoot (though I know this is not a good thing to admit or do) I've only washed it once in the 6200K I've owned it. I may buy another side panel one day to just have on hand to expedite the sale of the bike when/if that day comes, but I'll imagine by then it'll be pretty beat in general. Besides, a large part of me says there's something about the look of a not-too-gently used dirt bike anyway.
