• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

630 - no spark

Just thought I'd post a quick update having finally got the bike back together and running again today. I managed to get hold of a used pulsar coil (CPS sensor) from a husky TE610 (it was the carbureted model of 610). The CPS sensor is identical. I took a gamble that it would fit….so now you don’t have too if yours goes out.

My CPS showed zero continuity on the multi-meter when connecting to the 2 wires , the replacement showed almost no resistance across (sorry I didn’t take an exact measurement).

If you ever need a new sensor, then you can get a replacement from these people out of the UK (the ONLY other supplier that I found for a new item).

Hope this help someone that has the same problem in future
Cheers S1

Good info thanks and I'm glad you got it going.

Well you can add me to the list, had a nice ride on the 630, put her away and no start next morning. no spark, no fuel injector pulse.checked all the normal failure stuff. trace to bad crank sensor
checked for resistance - none, checked for output on graphing multimeter - no output.

thanks to OP I have ordered the sensor from the UK. I guess we needed a test subject to see if it works!

I am also hoping it will fix my hard start cold. none of the normal fixes worked

I guess I should have reverse checked it as well, too late to cancel order.
I will post pics to compare the sensors.

Picture of sensor plug with new UK sensor installed, shows correct resistance as per manual.

Replacement sensor on left, stock on right. There is two issues with the non-husky version is where the wires exit the sensor, they are compressed against the ignition cover when installed.
The second thing is the slotted adjustment holes on the sensor, since you are installing the sensor into the cover and then installing the cover there is no way to check the air gap, with the stock sensor it is an install and forget. I had to measure and guesstimate the air gap.
The good news is that the Husky now runs again!

So are you using the uk or China sensor? What was your readings after the install, the manual says 100 ohms correct? I think I'm having a similar issue and I'm trying to pinpoint it. My sensor is currently giving me readings anywhere from 1-55 ohms on my 610. Also how did you wire it in? Solder? Or crimps?

I used the UK one, just seemed like better quality although that is not based on anything real. I soldered and used heat shrink. Never trust crimps for anything important. Yup, 116 ohm's. I tested absolutely everything before ordering, I did not have spark or injector signal etc.

Thanks for the info. I ordered one from a local company for a banshee, based in the size of it in the photo. Did you check the china sensor and whether it actually fit in the case?

Hi guys, looks like mine needs a new CPS too. I measured it, it gives me absolutely nothing...
Who still has a link to a shop that sells these CPS? in the UK or anywhere in EU
thanks a lot!!!

Hi guys,
a quick update: I ordered the CPS from Ebay (from Canada). I payed for the express shipment. Ordered it on Friday, it was delivered on Monday!! (from Canada to France). I cheked it before putting it on the bike and it showed approx. 136 Ohms resistance. The old one didn't show anything. I put it in and the bike started immediately!!!
Victory!
Thank you guys for your help!!
