    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I got a Seat Concepts seat and the FMF slipon from Bill installed.

The seat is instantly more comfortable. I think it's going to be a godsend on my two planned trips this year. I had it installed at a local upholstery shop, to save myself the headache and eliminate the risk of screwing it up. The shop said that the foam and the cover were both a perfect fit, and very easy to install.

The exhaust is noticeably louder, but not obnoxious. The volume control is in your right hand. :) Go easy on the throttle and it's not much louder than stock. Give it a handful, and it barks.

I love the way it looks compared to the OEM exhaust, and it's a heck of a lot lighter. I'd say it's comparable to the weight savings you're going to get with the full Leo Vince system, at a fraction of the price.

I bumped the CO settings on the iBeat to 106% across the board, per Bill's recommendation. The bike runs great.

Does it make more power? I don't know for sure. It sure seems like it. But, it could be all in my head.

If anyone wants to cut a truckload of dead weight off of their 630 and doesn't want to spend $1000+ on an exhaust, call Bill!

Wow! I like the look of that single exhaust! Getting rid of the extra weight and those gawdawful heatshields is pure win all the way

Yeah, it looks way cooler.

The can is tucked up under the tail a bit more than the OEMs, too. I might even be able to mount up my Giant Loop without using the extra heat shield. I'm not a big fan of scarring up my cans with a giant hose clamp and some sheet metal. But, you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.
 
You got that right! I just wish there was something that looked a little less slapped together.

It's a comfy chesterfield compared to stock, eh? That must've been the pipe Mike mentioned earlier today. Is that a straight through? You saved a boatload of weight.
 
You have kick some butt there. looks very good. it makes you wonder why Husky opted for 2 cans in the first place.

It's a straight through pipe, with a spark arrestor. Bill put one on his son's 630. In a field of $1000+ exhaust options, this was too good to pass up.

Not sure who Mike is; did someone else pick one up?

It's the same exhaust that Bill put on his son's 630 in his "Project TE630 Begins" thread. It's actually a slipon made for a 2008 RMZ450 quad. I wonder if there are other slipons for that quad that would fit as well. hmmm....
 
Mike's the guy who dyno'd my bike. He mentioned a bunch of different brands I can only remember FMF. If I get tired of my arrows I might pick the FMF up and strip my bike to barebones.
 
One thing I just discovered is that the rear tire doesn't quite clear the can. It rubs slightly. It's a 140/80-18 Pirelli MT21. It's nothing major, and I'm not going to sweat it. If you were really concerned about it, you could get a slightly narrower tire.
 
6 months ago I took my bike to FMF so they could prototype a single exhaust using the stock header. The whole project ended up being a waste of time so I pulled it off and ordered a Leo Vince. The can they made was a terrible fit and the heat shield was joke!
Not to mention the customer service, you would think that since they used your bike they would at least call you with a question or when it's done. Then they didn't use the can they said they were going to, this one is way to loud and they didn't provide any inserts.
Never again fmf.

I fixed the rubbing issue by using the spacer that was included with the can, moving the exhaust out about 3/8". I figured the spacer was part of the kit for the quad and I wouldn't need it. I guess I was wrong. :)

Sorry you had bad results.

Is that the heat shield shown in the picture? It looks good, but it doesn't look like it would shield you from much heat. The heat shield I have is what I bought from Bill. It's a Moose Racing shield that just clamps on to any pipe. It sits right where my leg is while I ride. I'm also on the hunt for some little CF shield to replace the front stock shield, to clean up the look some.

Mine is definitely louder than stock, but I like the way it sounds. The only insert I have for mine is a spark arrestor.

Yes that is the shield they put on, it clamps on with no gap and it gets hot all over. It burned my pants and shoes like having no shield at all.

A friend-of-a-friend of mine is a welder, and I'm going to talk to him about welding the pipe together and ditching the clamps.
 
I just picked up a '11 SM 630 from Bill and had him slip the FMF on it. Are you running it with the insert? He is getting me one - the wife could hear me a block away! After riding a VFR800 for the last five years the SM is going to take some getting used to -it feels really weird sitting up so high.

I put the can on there how it came out of the box. There's a spark arrestor in there. I don't know if it includes some sort of db killer or not. It's definitely quite a bit louder than stock, but not obnoxious, IMO.
