• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

610tc splutter!!

Husqvarna
Hi all,got a problem with my 99 610tc, if you blip the throttle lightly from idle it splutters which also makes it awkward to set off at times . There are no problems with starting hot or cold ,although it never needs the choke to start, im thinking its a carb problem as ive changed everything on the electrics side except the wireing loom. It smells like its running rich and it dose chuck out black smoke if you rev it hard. All the jets are oe the main jet is a 170 , i believe from the factory it was a 175 , im not to clued up on jetting and was wandering if anyone thinks it needs smaller or bigger jets , or anything im missing here,oh and i have tried adjusting the mixture in every position possible but it dosent make the splutter worse or better, anyine any ideas please
regards alan

Alan,

Pull the carb and strip it down and give it a good cleaning.

I read some where this should be done yearly.

Cheers,
DaveM.

Thanx for reply but i already stripped it , soaked it in wd40 then blew it all out with compressed air , but its still the same .

Alan,

If your bike has a Dellorto the choke piston on the side of the carb could be leaking.

Cheers,
DaveM.

Hi dave ,my choke is a cable operated piston type and tth seal is set in the bottom of the piston . I have swapped it for a spare one i had that is in good condition, but it is still the same. I was thinking of adjusting the pump adjusting screw while its running i just need to extend the fuel pipe because you cant adjust it with the tank on the bike , will let u know outcome .
regards alan
