• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I'll be curious to hear what you think of the 5' rear. What size tire can you fit in the swingarm?

I'd also like to know what you think of the full radius valve job as compared to stock :)

Hey WC,
After just one ride since the rebuild, I did notice an increase in mid-range due to either or both the seats being properly beveled and/or the pipes coated. Those are the only two things that didn't stay stock so they did seem to make a difference. I'm sure the new rings helped the compression a bit but I doubt enough to feel. My bikes mid-range was it's weakest area but not any more. I probably should have dyno-ed before and after but didn't.

I put the exact same 160 Pirelli that was on the 4.25 OEM rim onto the new 5" and I did notice the bike turned in a bit less notchey and felt more planted with the 160 finally having the correct size rim under it. The contact patch is bigger now and so is my confidence in a turn. Fitament was not a problem, I only had to grind off the excess bolts protruding past the nuts on the lower chain guide thats under the swingarm.

Where do you guys get the Red Anodized Hubs? Are you having the Stockers redone or are those brought in from somewhere?

I unlaced the stock ones and epoxy painted them. Anodize looks like crap on cast aluminum, I wouldn't go that route.

I've seen a couple and they look nice, but I know red anodizing fades and looks crappy fast. hence my confusion:thumbsup:

Are you sure they were cast? Most anodized hubs like Talons are milled from a block of aluminum vs poured into a cast like most OEM hubs. A poured cast hub won't have the clarity when polished to look shiney and have the depth a billit piece will once anodized.
