• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

610 Speedometer not working

Bones

Husqvarna
B Class
I have an 08, 1500 miles, etc. Took it into Halls to get the EFI tuned and it runs like a champ now. Took it for a quick test ride, all felt good and on the trailer it went for the 4 hour ride home.

Take it to work this morning and speedo is reading ZERO. odometer works, tachometer works.....hmmm. I am going to research some more and see if this is semi common, then call Halls.

Anyone have any $0.02 to toss in feel free.

Is the magnet still attached to the rotor? Without it the speedo would read 0:thumbsup:

Mine went to zero when in Baja. Turns out the wires for the speedo sensor broke, up near the clip connector. At first it must have been a break inside the insulation, because it was not apparent. By ride's end they had completely separated.

I put on a new speedo sensor wire and reinforced it with heat shrink; speedo reads fine now.

How does one do a reset?

I have a 2008 SM610. During my ride this morning it started to read zero mph. The odometer is still working. How does one do a reset?

Thanks

Just disconnect the battery and that will reset it.

sometimes it needs to be disconnected for 5 minutes.. sometimes 15 or more.. happened to me a couple times.. I've also lost my magnet once too..

Did the trick!

Disconnected the negative terminal overnight. Reconnected it this morning and everything is working! Also the bike is seems peppier. Does the ECU reset also?

Thanks

Yes the ECU resets. It only take a few minutes disco'ed to do the trick, I did it on my lunch break.

Where on the front wheel is the speed sensor? My speedo first started reading erratic speeds and finally gave up the ghost yesterday (now reading 0 only). I haven't checked to see if the odo works or not. But i assume that since the speeds were erratic before showing 0, the sensor or some other hardware must be the problem... where can i look for this on the bike? Front brake disk or elsewhere?

Hello, I have an issue with my speedometer. I bought moto from IT and I dont have info how long the speedometer does not work.
In the wheel is the magnet, hall sensor is as close as possible to the sensor, but the speed is not shown. I have checked the connector and it seems fine. The wire is cracked at the end, but there is no shortcut and also the wire is not interrupted.

"Reboot" of ECU is not working. I did bigger maintenance with unpluged battery, but after connection is the result still same, there is no speed showed.
I didnt try to do longer test, because here is currently freezy and snow. So I have tested it only in my garage. Do you know if is necessary to ride some time for calibration of ECU to the sensor? Or if the speed should be shown immediately.

Is somebody know how exactly should this hall sensor work? If it is magnetic-resistance sensor and changing the resistance or if it is the standard passive hall and generating the AC voltage when wheel is rotated?

Thanks for your tips and help.
