    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

610 Pipe Comparison

Ok,

I am leaning toward the Motorsportz pipe becase of its sharp black color and pipe ends of various colors.. I am planning on blue... From my reading in these forums, it appears that the Uptite, LV and Motorsportz pretty much provide the same 'seat of the pants" power when used along with the lambda sensor mod... Does everyone agree that this is pretty much the case... If not, please advise otherwise...

I think George (Uptite) has one particular version that is seat of the pants superior. He has 2 versions IIRC.

It may be a bit louder...

I have heard people in his shop testify to this but no real riding experience for me.

Check with Kelly to see if the MotoSportz offering has an available sparky yet (if that's a consideration for you).
 
I'm interested in the comparison as well. I think the motosportz pipe looks the best by far, and I appreciate it that it isn't supposedly louder than stock except under acceleration.

I can not give you a comparison on the difference in feel but I can give you first hand experience. The Up-tite pipe (08SM610) is not louder than stock. It does give a good bark when you hit it, but not like an uncorked harley (or even to loud). I like the looks of all of the pipes "but" George is in my neck of the woods so I support the guy that will take care of any problems. I have Motorsprortz stuff on my bikes as well. George has different colored caps if that is what sells you, and it is sparked for Forestry pleasure. Either way you go you might be happy and you might not. I do believe that the Up-tite gives better oomph than the others but you would have to put the bike on a Dyno to be sure.
 
The uptite just looks like a can of spam to me. I prefer an oval shape. If the uptite is that much better, I may have to try it. I wish there was a better way to listen to them than youtube videos with wind noise, different cameras, volume controls...

I can't say for sure about the Motosportz pipe because I haven't had the pleasure of riding with anyone that has one. So far as the Uptite vs. the LV I can say that they both perform about the same both in hp and noise reduction. The Uptite pipe is slightly lighter and has a different look that some love and some don't. I have heard rumors of some dyno tests that say the Uptite edges the the LV out slightly but not by any significant amount. In any event I'm sure that all three will give you a substantial increase in performance. I have the LV but only because I got a smoking deal on it otherwise I would have bought from Uptite because I believe in supporting our local people, particularly George because he has done so much for the Husky community.
 
I've run both on my TE610 and my personal preference is the Motorsportz because it is a little quieter when you twist the wick. I know that's a pretty lame reason but I've drawn the ire of the local constabulary one too many times. ( prolly doesn't have a thing to do with my riding habits:excuseme:)

The Uptite can does have a better seat of the pants feel when you whack the throttle (response) and weighs about 1/2 of what the Motorsportz does. The Motorsportz can looks aesthetically more "stock" and subdued while the Uptite is unmistakably aftermarket. The Uptite is USFS S/A approved while the Motorsportz is not (yet).

In all honesty, if I was going for performance, the Uptite wins out hands down. The uptite is also made in the U.S. and completely servicable, re-packs are a breeze after you initally hi-temp anti-seize the endcap bolts.
Both are very high quality and would give you years of trouble free use. Just my 2cents, your mileage may vary.

Thats an awesome comparison. I really appreciate your opinion on both. Now I need to decide what I really want, and how much I'm willing to give up for it. How much estimated performance difference is there between the two?
 
Where can I see some more info on the Motosportz pipe? I recall seeing it on their site but couldn't find it...

Dunno about facts and figures when it comes to performance differences. I will say again though, the Uptite can definately feels more responsive ie: performs better. Anything you can do to shed weight is a good thing if your looking for performance and if I had an SM610 it would have an Uptite for sure. That way the guy on the Harley 883 Sportster can hear you as you pull away him on the freeway after crackin the throttle.:thumbsup: Neither the Uptite or the Motorsportz are any louder than a stock exhaust during "normal" riding.

The other thing I'd tell ya to consider when slapping down yer cash on either of these pipes is the quality of product and customer service from both. Kelly and George stand behind their products 100%. Take it from a guy who has been in customer service for over 25yrs (me), the bit extra is worth every penny knowing someone is there and will go the extra mile if needed. I can't emphasize the value in this enough, customer "service" in many areas is becoming a thing of the past.
Like always, just my 2cents, your mileage may vary.

Supertrapp?

Has anybody tried the Supertrapp ISD2 quiet version? Looks like the 19" model would be easy to fit on a 610 and give options for lowering the sound in sensitive places.

I had thought about trying one at one time but then I read about another guys adventure adapting one and decided against it. It seemed that he had to do quite a bit of cutting up and cobbling together to make it work and it ended up not performing as well as the others that we have been talking about.

Well looks wise it's a total bust, just boring aluminum, but I have the Arrow unit and it performs amazing. Ton's more midrange punch. Has a definite growl to it but doesn't seem any louder than stock, just sounds much better. I have read it is some type of homogulation pipe for racing since it has Husqvarna stamped into the end cap in small letters and also the Husky logo on top of the end cap. I don't go off road ever so no clue on the spark arrester aspect of it.
