  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

511 Tailsection: 2011 -> 2012?

AA Class
The tail section on the 2011 511 is a ridiculous and stupid collection of three body parts that are a huge PIA to put together, don't fit together very well and look like crap.

The 2012 tail section is a single piece. Has anyone replaced or upgraded a 2011 with the 2012 parts? Looking at the parts fiche it appears as though all I'd need to buy would be the tail section and the inner fender portion. The 2011 front mud flap could be trimmed to fit the new inner fender.

TE or TC?
If you get the 2012 inner and outer from a TE it requires no trimming.

If you use a TC inner which has no little mudflap/taillight section it requires trimming down near the shock guard.
I think the TC outer also has a longer bit at the end of the fender.

It bolts on the same. I replaced rear fender from 2011 SMR511 with 2013 TC rear, no mods required but yes, TC plastic is longer at the rear

Yep that's it.

Like I said if you want to keep your tail light get TE inner, if you are racing and you don't need tail light get the TC inner.

My bike with TC inner instead of TE inner.

Placed my order with Halls Cycles. The inner and outer fender parts are surprisingly inexpensive .... ca $60 for both.

What wasn't inexpensive was the replacement tail light I had to order cause I broke mine last year on a big loading ramp drop. :( $100 for a tail light. :O

Worst thing is the 6 week back order time at the moment :(

All the parts inner change together as a set. I own 2011 TC 449, 2012 TXC511 and a 2013 TC449. I've innerchanged all the plastics at one point or another for races. UFO does offer replacement 2011 TC449 rear plastics but I know you wanted to get away from those. The length on the mud flap is different from 2011 to 2012+, also the fuel tanks are different from the TC to TE,SM,TXC. the TC tank is a little smaller and has a different cap.

The TC inner required trimming near the shock protector because of that reason, the fuel tank was slightly different which didn't allow it to bolt up properly without trimming it back a bit.
