As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I find that iridiums are a part of the fix. The other bit is battery. Huskies do not kick over that fast if the battery is not well topped off. Are you using a trickle charger? If not this should do the business.
What oil viscosity are you running? Many threads on that topic!Generally no problem, though one 30 degree morning when the 511 it was new it struggled. I dont trickle it, have just started using the Iridium on it, so we will see if there is any noticeable change.

Sorry, I can only console. Cold starting, mine has always taken 3-4 tries to run. Mine will fire pretty quick 1st and 2nd tries, but dies after a few pops. I have the FMF slip-on and JD tuner. I've messed with the tuner up and down and not much difference when starting. I also feel something is amiss. I have a stock yamaha raptor with what appears to be much more basic FI and it has always fired right up in all conditions and never had a flameout with tons of hours on it. I wonder if the size of the throttle body is too big for this size motor and cannot sustain proper air/fuel mixture/flow when cranking (cold)? Tinken is definitely my oil expert. I will run whatever he recommends. From new I have used Mobil racing 4 stroke synthetic.I've been using Motul 7100 10W40.
Choosing oil can be difficult in Australia, I am not exactly sure what is available, but I found a Motul that works phenomenal in these engines. I'm not sure how much it costs up there in Australia, but the 300V 5w40 in either the factory or the off road versions is as thin as 0 weight Mobil 1 at 40°C. Even Motul boasts "Extra power at the rear wheel : Wet clutch lock up improvement." haha. Down here in the US, I usually recommend Mobil/Shell 0w40/5w40.![]()
