  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

510 seized. 530 kit ordered form MOTOSPORTZ

Thought I would post this here and get some input.
I seized my 05 510smr motor today at the track. Bike only has 800 miles. It tipped over during transport in my enclosed trailer and filled the crank with gasoline. When I got to the track I stood it up and the bike started and ran fine. Didn't blow any smoke or anything so I assumed there wasn't a problem. Well I was WRONG**************************************** Anyway motor seized up in the first lap of our third 15min practice. I guess gasoline doesn't make good oil.

Got home and pulled the bike apart. Little liquid wrench and a rubber mallet and got the piston free and the cylinder off. The crank and crank bearing fell and look great. The valve train looks and feels great. The cylinder of course shows some wear but not as bad as I expected. I didn't really inspect the piston.

So whats the best thing to do? Vendors feel free to step in as well!!! I was looking at the 530 kit before this happened but decided to wait because I really don't need the power. Do I go ahead and do the 530 kit? I also looked at getting the cylinder machined and having the nickaseal re-done and just getting a new piston. Does anyone have any input on what piston's to use? FBF, OTHER??????

Please help be spend my money. And also let me know about some of the products out there.

Thank you

Update: Took the cylinder down to the machine shop and they said it was "perfect" that always sounds good coming from a machine shop. So it looks like I just need to buy a piston. Guys from Motorsportz were very helpful and friendly on the phone. Also the machine shop said that I didn't seize the motor I hydro locked it with the crankcase full of gasoline.

If the bearings and cams are still wet with oil I'd just clean up the cyl and put a new piston and rings.

Do you even need a piston?

From what you typed I cannot tell if there was any damage at all.

That sounds strange. Usually when an engine locks up because of too much fluid in it, it does this almost immediately, rather than starting up and running fine for a little while.:excuseme:

There might not be any damage but the motor is apart and I am going to replace the piston. Does anyone have any experience with the Fast by Ferracci pistons?

Slidnrin on SMJ has a FBF High Compression piston on his 07 510 SMR. He's on here, but not sure of his username.....

I must have got him at just the right time he responded in about 5 minutes. FBF piston has been ordered. Craig did you get your bike running?

Not yet....Just got off the phone with George at Uptite.......Big help:thumbsup: and hopefully the items that he told me to check will pan out.:applause: Not ready to give up on the Husky just yet......If The stuff he told me doesn't solve the problem, I will take it to the local (somewhat) shop to hook it up to Ibeat for a diagnosis

If I would have turned off the petcock that wouldn't of happened. I'm still pro carb****************************************! I always turn of the fuel when I travel just forgot this time.

I ordered a 530 kit from MOTOSPORTZ.COM The price was awesome and the service was just as good. I really couldn't be happier with my experience in dealing with them.

Thanks guys at motosportz.com
