    FE = 4st Enduro & FC = 4st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC 501 saddle numbness

So... For all of you that have 30+ minute commutes to the trail, are you experiencing saddle issues? I have the seats concepts sport seat, and getting pretty numb after even short rides with no standing. Is this normal?

The stock 2x4 killed my ass after more than a few minutes on pavement. Installed a Seat Concepts kit and that fixed it for me. I wouldn't say it would be great for a bunch of pavement miles but I don't do that anyway. Differents seats for different asses, I guess.:excuseme:;)

It's just you TBH. Nothing personal but some guys just have sensitive bums. I've done 250 mile days on my 501 with a factory tall seat. It feels fine for me. I do wear Klim tactical riding shorts but they are more for thigh and hip protection. The more I ride the less it bothers me. I had seat concepts seats on 3 other bikes in the past and ended up going back to stock because I don't like the width of the SC on a dirtbike. I do like the SC on my super tenere though. Someone mentioned the 2015 seats were pretty hard compared to the 2014 which is what I have sooo?

I have 3 seats a Husaberg black /gray carbon no slip part catalog seat. Good !

A Husqvarna blue gripper ribbed factory power parts seat much better !!

The stock '15 seat never got ridden ever, and I installed the Seat Concepts 7" sport foam and cover on the stock pan and it is great. I don't feel it at all standing up when riding but they have an 8" version that's the dualsport model I guess I went with the 7" version. I can ride it all day with no soreness. I do wear Oneal padded riding underwear. Which has some tail bone padding, hip pads and crotch padding. It helps tremendously. In fact I never ride with out them. Get yourself some "Gold Bond" Friction defense its like a stick deodorant applicator and use it. It will help keep you from having soreness.

My friends who have ridden my FE 501 all say the same thing, they love it. The seat that is. When I can get them to come back.
If this doesn't help as reveille says above "some guys just have sensitive bums" You could be one of those people.

Try the Gold Bond. If I forget to apply this when riding my Buckskin leather covered "Speedbrain" seat on my BMW G450X I have felt like my own ass has been peeled and ready for tanning myself a few times.

This product solved that issue. I can ride it now also for long periods of time with the same gear on and have good results after. Which means, No More Monkey Butt.
