  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

449 to 310 made the move!!

I went from an xlite 310 to te449 racing woodland/field events. The 310 never suited me and even events which are wet rutted the 449 doesnt doyesnt tire me as much as that 310. I should have bought a 2t then that 310 and the 2009/2010 bikes were nicer to ride then the xlite.

You know i ahve been lusting after the 2012 TC250 with it's new head, light weight and more power but every time i ride my buddies really nice TE310 and then get back on my 511 i think a TC449 might be a better woods bike for me. I know it sounds silly but would like to keep my TE511 all decked out for DS (heavy) and use a stripped TC449 (lighter and dirt tire / gearing equipped) for my dirt mount. I like this platform that much. It says a ton for me that I like the 449/511 as much off road as the x-lights which i find fantastic. But the smooth 449/511 and CTS and just the whole bike do something for me.

No leccy start on the TC250 have you tried starting a 310 via the kicker....nightmare! TC449 defo nice bike to race but the comps i'm riding dont allow me to race any MX machinery. I weighed my 449 the other day - full tank of fuel rolling the front wheel on some digital scales then the rear total combined = 266lbs. Not bad and the weight thing between the 310 and 449 could be the difference in the size of the rider.... The 310 is like riding a 2t the way its power is delivered i prefer the old 310.

I did a similar thing, set my 07 525EXC up as my DS and use the 10 310 as my main woods bike. The smaller and the lighter, the better for trails IMO. I work less and have more energy at the end of the day.

In fact, we are heading to Gunnison in Aug for 7 days of riding and I am only bringing the 310. I am adding a IMS tank for some additional range, but think the FI willbe the tits for Colorado riding!
