  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I agree with rearwheelin 100%. This thread and Cafe Husky in general has loads of free information with all kinds of great and innovative ideas. If youre gonna hype up your own "patented design" and intend to make a profit, and expect people to ask you if they can sell a product, you belong in the marketplace section and should be paying the advertisement premium.

I wondered when this was going to come to a head.
Took the words right out of my mouth!
Rearwheelin.......question.....that pic of you holding up the carbon fiber thingy......who took the picture??? Looks like your driving, smoking, and holding something up. That doesnt leave any free hands to take a picture!:eek::eek:

I want a quality breather/oil recirc system for my TE. Whichever guy comes out with a great product is cool with me. I appreciate the time and research everybody has done on this subject. Rearwheelin may put a great product but i also kno Ty and Tinken arent gonna put out a product thats not top notch. Sorry Ladds, but I cant afford to buy one from both of ya haha. What is cool about this is the two or more companies involved can keep each other in check with a quality product at a decent price. I hope things work out for all parties.

IMHO anyone talking about product to sell on CH should at least be a low lever advertiser here. It is only fair. Tinken asked Dean about this a while ago and it probably happened today or soon.

Ty and Tinken have lots of time, $ and info invested in this project and top racers to test it. Should be great product.

I make them for a hobbie not because it's my buisness but because I like too and will do a good job . They will function at all levels or I wont make them and buy one that does :)

My 'shop' looks similar to rearwheelin's, although I try not to leave metal shavings on the bbq... I got CNC too! Coldbeer Not yet Consumed

VERY patiently waiting for my pre-order on zipty to become a shipped order!

Nothing wrong with that. If you make more than one and advertise them here for sale that's when a line is crossed on a web forum supported by paying advertisers. Lots of VERY cool one off builds going on here, especially the TR650 build ones.

Looks like I haven't crossed the line yet ! I don't plan on making them for everyone else to sell because then I won't be able to make as much per sale. these are not going to be run of the mill , hand made one at a time . I will defiantly look into a ad... Thanks Kelly

Starting to smell the roses now ! They are perfect ! No this isn't a bottle , it's a second stage dry sump .

Also, I will get CafeHusky members who have contributed in the thread or who post in the next coming weeks a gift code to receive a discount on the two items.

Just posting to get in on the discount.:D Some great info on here, thanks for sharing. I plugged the airbox and put a filter on the end of the breather hose which seams to have worked so far, but I'd rather fix the problem properly and not risk any damage to the engine from low oil levels or have any oil drop onto the ground when I have my motard wheels on. Can't wait to see these finished products.

Did some more mock up today...... I will be powder coating these in white, red and grey colors.... I have a very limited supply of colored CF and when its gone it will be black CF bracket......... Just throwing it out there it will be way easier for me to deal with a vendor than for me to tackle this whole thing by myself  ..... I like Bill's for there great service, just saying :D

This is the dry sump/line , it holds 50+cc and the oil that the can catches flows threw this. It will work with the stock skid plate....

I recently purchased a 2013 TE 511. Its my fourth Husky, 92 610, 04 TE 450 and 04 WR 250. My shiny new scooter also has excessive oil pushed into the airbox. I called the dealer I bought it from to see if the Factory will pay for the remedy, which seems to be the oil return system talked over on this thread. I've ordered a filler cap from zip ty and spun up a billet can on my lathe. But, however comma, I got to thinking, this is a shiny new scooter with, in my eyes a serious manufacturing flaw. I am pissed about having to fix it myself and will not accept lower oil levels, white exhaust smoke and oil puking all over the floor and my riding gear. This is pushing brand loyalty a little to far down my throat. Perhaps I should have read this thread prior to puschase.
There is no "serious manufacturing flaw", you are viewing the internet, which has opinions from a large number of people - some of which like to state there is a problem based on theories.

My opinion is Motosportz was correct in his first post in this thread.
