  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ty and I have designed a new breather for the Kymco engine which bypasses the torque limiter which will also aid to keeping the torque limiter cool.

Will this mode be available to the public?
Is this something someone with decent mechanical skills can install?
Do you have the details on what exactly has to be taken apart?

I am still breaking in my bike and do not track it, but I would like to preserve the longevity of the motor and ride it worry free. I currently have 40 miles on my bike and would like to install this as soon as possible (if it is reasonably priced that is).

Feel free to PM me if you want to keep the responses private.

Thanks for fixing out engines.

As inaccurate as they are I might stick one of the FX temp stickers on the radiator, if I can find a visible spot... The one I have on the cylinder doesn't seem to go near 95C unless I'm stuck in stop/start traffic.

EDIT: Not the most ideal place but it was the only one visible, temp sticker now on the top of the right radiator next to the intake snorkel.

On my 450r I have installed a fan kit of my own making. I used a Trail Teck in-line temp guage and that lets me know when to turn my fan on. On huge hill climbes i jus turn it on ahead of time and while everyone else gets really hot I might climb 15 degrees . the fans helps big time, but arent a cure all , its best to turn them on before a thermostat switch does it for you when trail / offroad/ extreme-offroad/ goat trails/ mud......

I'm going to put one on the husky to help with tunning in the JD EFI tunner . I will be able to see engine temps in any situation and see if it's running a bit lean , meaning hot and richen thoughs rpm areas.

Yes, available at the end of next week when production run is finished. Yes, easy to install with minimum modification.

Hey , can I send you my breather kit for a test run by the guys who know how to ride and give it a good shake down with a full report on the good and bad ? It should be ready and tested by yours truly in two weeks :) lol LMAO haha JK :)

It could be that you don't run 1200cc's in your engine. I bet if you increased your oil quantity to 1150cc that you would have more oil in your tube.

Right now it is about about 3/4 up the sight glass and stays there all the time. Regardless i will be buying your (Ty) valve cover breather when ready.

So this thread is huge and I am really lazy. When this breather mod is finished and available to the public, can you make a new thread (possibly sticky) with an explanation with pictures of how it works, installation, and where to get it?

My mod is two part. There is a breather exit hole mod which reroutes hot gasses away from the torque limiter, this item will be out next week (depending on the anodizer company, could be additional time). The second part is the actual bottle which sits on the side of the cylinder which allows the 1150cc oil quantity and recirculation back to the crankcase. It should take another week or so depending on the anodizing. I can post a new thread with instructions, I will need Coffee's permission for sticky.

Also, I will get CafeHusky members who have contributed in the thread or who post in the next coming weeks a gift code to receive a discount on the two items.

You da man Tinken! Hell I'd put off getting a seat concepts kit to do this. My ass will heal, but the motor won't!

Thanks!
But if it were me, I'd rather my butt was happy... The first thing I did after buying my 511 was drive down to Seat concepts and meet with the owners and have them make me a custom Tall seat.
