  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Because the Husqvarna 449/511 is a BMW product and BMW is not a off road motorcycle manufacture...

Compromises are inherent in any complex product, this is why there will always be aftermarket suppliers and tuners. Many users will be completely unaware of any problem/deficiency as long as their bike leads a low stress life and is maintained well.

I called ZipTy today and wanted a drain plug with a hose barb to match the size of the breather hose.... Kid never called me back on my custom request. Out of the XF too . Hook me up Tinken :)

Sorry about that. I talked to Danny and he hadn't called you back because he didn't have an answer from Ty as of yet and was going to return your call the following day.

I'll be at the shop late tomorrow. I think that oil cap is 24.95, might be less. I know it's not on the website yet, but they have a whole box full of them. I will take a picture tomorrow and add it to the Zip-Ty website so you can just order one. You can get the brass fitting I used at Home Depot.

A lot of people buy that coolant gallons at a time, all the factory teams run it. I will see what the lead time on that is for you.

And why do you want to barb fit a drain plug??
I believe he wishes to return oil back to the crank case.

Ok so maybe i missed something. You want to run a drain plug with a barb into a tapped hole in the valve cover? Running a drain plug at the bottom of the crankcase with a barb fitting was making me wonder what the eff was the idea behind that haha!
What kind of clearance is there under that valve cover? That seems like a super easy fix. Is it magnesium or aluminum?

 no? I think there are several different projects going on in the thread. You will have to go back to the beginning of the thread on that one.

ZipTy will be doing the valve cover mod, there is 0 clearance under the valve cover. I'll try to get TY to do an exchange program since the valve covers are so expensive, or you can pay a core fee.

ha ha ! The drain plug with a barb is for me to run a test with and if it works out I am going to build a dry sump that will hold a quart.
