  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

449/511 Alternator covers

Wondering if anyone has seen or heard of alternator covers for the 449/511s? I have the Force bash plate and clutch covers on my TE and SMR but believe the alternator cover is still susceptible to large rocks/road rash in the event of a husky hop off! I have located covers for the previous gen 450/510s but nothing for the 449/511s. Am hoping someone somewhere has developed before the aftermarket focus switches to the 2014 husktmburgs!

Force accessories make a clutch cover, only alternator cover I've seen is by Touratech made of carbon fibre.

Yep I notice though that existing alt covers are for the 450/510 series only.

I guess coming from a sportsbike background where there are endless engine case gaurds (some with replaceable sliders) I was hoping to find something similar. I understand Supermotos usually have less speed and weight (mass) in a crash but would still be nice to have the peace of mind whilst racing if there is a get off Im not going to crack the OEM cover spewing oil/debris all over the track. I hope that the FORCE bashplate and Clutch cover guard currently installed will do the job in the event of a get off, but the left side of the bike still looks vulnerable.

Having previously witnessed gear shifters punched through engine cases etc keeps me up at night! :(
