• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

420 AE Manuals

Hi All -

I'm working on bringing a 420 Auto motor back to life so that I can swap it out for the 390 Auto in my current bike.

The manuals from this site helped tremendously a few years ago when I got the 390, and I need the same reference material for the 420. Unfortunately the link below from the ref / tech section of the forum isn't working. Is there another way to get to the information, or can one of you share via email?

Thanks for your help with this
Scott

I will check my paper manuals when I get home tonight, I thought I had it stored on my computer but it has disappeared! Also if I remember correctly, the 420 manual that was on this site was actually for the 390!!

I have never seen an owner's manual for 420.
I have an owner's manual for manual gears (8/1980) with pages (5/6) for automatic
but nothing extraordinary.

Is there anyway to post it to the site ? There is a few of us that would like a copy for sure

Ok Guys :)
It's do but I do a mistake , I understood the Parts-List and not the Owner Manual
sorry I sent the PL
I don't think have the OM

When I bought my 1981 420 AXC in Detroit in 1987, the previous owner (Carl Albert Johansson !!) gave me a 390 Auto OM , so for many years I thought I had a 390, before I checked the SN on internet

I do not believe there is a workshop manual for the 420, this link shows a 258 being rebuilt. they have the same gearbox as a 420- http://www.teamnorrland.se/Renovera AE.htm This also shows the spring protector required which is available on Ebay. The Swedish military manual for the 258 is also good if you can find one and read Swedish, This link is to the Swedish Husky forum and website. google chrome translates for me http://husqvarna.infosajt.se
Unfortunately the links to the 258 manuals no longer work.
I have checked all my paper manuals and cannot find this http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/vintage-husqvarna-1982-420-ae-auto-owners-manual.5180/

I have the owner's manual for the frame CN 1001+ ( cr 81 and axc 81-82)
Here's the first page. There's 8 pages on automatics and 70+ pages on manual speed.
I have it on pdf.
Not sure it is specific about 420. 390 and 420 are near.

"I do not believe there is a workshop manual for the 420."
I have found the document, it was in the loft! But as as I thought it is for the 390, I will scan it at work tomorrow and email to anyone who wants it.

and today in 2017 , 36 years after you still have your bike but still not the owner's manual
