    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

4 Stroke Lectron - 04 TE 250

Replacing the stock Mikuni TMR 36 pumper carb on this bike with a 36mm Lectron with remote choke setup, adjustable power jet and air bleed adjustment screw.

The carb arrived from Lectron setup to Motosportz specs, including a nice Motion Pro Vortex throttle and cable to replace the stock push/pull cable setup.

Install was very easy, the carb slipped in and the cable and throttle were fitted without any problems.

I'll have more info on how it runs with this carb later today.

The bike fired up and settled into a fast idle. A couple of quick throttle snaps resulted in immediate throttle response. Exhaust smells a bit rich. Going to try 1/4 turn leaner on the rod, then fine tune with air bleed screw and adjust idle speed. The tank needs to be removed or lifted to access idle adjustment, power jet and air bleed screws.

- I was really surprised at the snappy throttle on the 610 install as well beings it has no accelerator pump. The cool thing is it goes from a super complicated carb to a super simple one and works great.

Oh, I know it is not EZ with a 4 stroke setup but make sure to play with the adjustable power jet screw too (upper mid and top end power). Makes a noticeable difference.
 
Thank you for setting up this carb to fit my bike so easily! I'm using the stock fuel tank. The fuel inlet on the carb is quite a bit higher than the fuel petcock outlet. Still flows gas on reserve while on the bike stand, shouldn't be a problem.

I did turn the rod out 1/2 turn. It still smells rich but idle is a bit steadier at around 1500 rpm. Might have to go a bit leaner but I'll ride it first before making any further changes. Right now it starts easily with a crack of the throttle and idles ok.

Might have to get one of these for my 450 to replace the TMR on that bike!

I love the simplicity, the single throttle cable and the remote choke.
 
I have found they are nearly impervious to water or dirt too. Love the simplicity and functionality of there things. I wish I had my hard starting at times 2010 TC250 back to give one a shot on. Bet it would be seriously awesome on that bike.
 
I believe its all the way in (checked it twice) but I will check it again.

The bike blows a noticeable amount of black smoke when snapping the throttle open from idle. Runs ok though.

That can be dialed out some but is going to be the case with these carbs. The 4 strokes have a lot of draw and the rod is very sensitive to this and why no accelerator pump is needed. The down side is a slight rich condition when you snap the throttle and it causes instant draw of fuel sitting right at the orifice waiting to go.
 
That's probably why I'm smelling excess fuel in my exhaust. So long as it runs good, a little smoke is no big deal!
 
Idle is stable after a few WOT runs. This bike has the original version Rekluse Z-Start clutch so consistent idle speed is important. I'm going to lean out the rod a little more and make some adjustments to the PJ. I think I have a pretty good staring point to evaluate further changes.

Were you able to give her some good WFO through the gears to see if the idle is stable?

Same basic carb body but with a few changes. The metering rod is different/longer and the 4T version spec'd by Motorsportz has the remote choke and an air bleed screw to adjust idle/off idle fueling.

Yes and no. Same basic carb but reconfigured for these 4 strokes and the specific bike. They are machined to fit perfect, have an added air bleed circuit to adjust the bottom end EZer which is the tough part on a 4 stroke with a Lectron, different rod, some other small changes. Basically a highly modified 2 stroke carb. No pumper and still quick instantaneous throttle response. From the most complex carb to the simplest and still runs better. Win / win. Nice.

We had three husky 125s with 165 kits and lectron this weekend, all ran fantastic 3200-7200 feet with zero adjusting.
