  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 360, top end, when?

I know that 162 psi is plenty enough and that your larger cc takes less of a battering than my little 125, but I reckon I had 180 odd hours on a vertex piston and ring before I put a mitaka cast in there, didn't hone the barrel just scotchbrite padded and soapy watered it, sprayed the powervalves with wd40 type stuff and put it back together. Your low hours and bigger size means it's probably good to go for ages yet, since you're more about low down power than top end scream. I'd check the circlips are still in the right position, clean it all up and just keep running it, probably at 32 to 1 mixture max and 40 to 1 minimum

Thx gaz... It seems so. I'm just so impressed with this bike and how it's held up, to put out that much compression still. Very cool. I've been running it 50:1 on Amsoil Interceptor, but have since increased the mix to 44:1. If I was running a mineral based or blend, I'd run 32-40:1 like ya' mentioned, but with likes of the Amsoil product or any other super proven and solid full syn mix, 44:1 should still be in the sweet spot. Plus, as I've been told and understand, gas is what gives the cooling effect...so gotta have both oil and gas, since not enough gas ratio can also cause issues from the other end of the spectrum... :)

thats nothin, my 88 250 has a stone stock top end, still has 215 psi of compression. ive been running the bike since the late 90s when i bought it as NOS. it has to have over 200 hours, lol.
