• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

360 pistons ports vs cylinder ports?

I just brought my 76 360 piston to have it bored, still original bore Husky Piston. I got a Wiseco
piston off Ebay I wasn't sure would work, but it was dirt cheap. Bore shop said the ports on piston
were partly covering the cylinder ones, so he didn't think piston was going to work.

Had him bore cylinder to determine correct oversize piston & it comes to a 2nd over.
Order a 2nd over Wosner from Husqvarna-parts & now he's saying the same thing,
1/3 of cylinder porting is cover over by the ones on the piston, asked could I haven't
gotten the wrong piston? They want to cut the piston ports to match the cylinder ones,
anyone run into this?

Are you talking about the holes in the skirt area on the carburetor side? All (stock, wiseco, woosner) of them have two holes? I have been less than satisfied with the way the cut outs end that match with the lands and voids of the cylinder in some other bikes in this section.

Yes, the ports on the piston, partly cover the ones on the cylinder, the bore shop said he'd make them
match for a charge of course. I never had anyone ask me this before, have I just been going to bad
bore shops before & this guy now better then others?

pretty sure they are all like that, popular mod for these bikes is (was) porting the piston to better match the cylinders ports. it decreases top end life but really does increase the bikes peak output..

Cant say for a 360 or larger, but the holes in the '82-'83 125 piston are smaller than the ports in the cylinder, I think the ones in my '82 250 are also.

These pics are from a 76 360. I'm not sure if these ports are what you're referring to but they all line up and I don't see any modifications to the piston or the cylinder.

I looked it over and there wasn't a name on it so I can't say. However I have a 75 360 with a STD piston and it looks identical to the piston in my pictures so I'm thinking that they're both OEM's. I know that earlier Huskys came with the Mahle piston but these don't have any manufacturer ID.
