• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

360 Auto rear sprocket size?

Roon

Husqvarna
AA Class
Ive just acquired a '76 360 Auto and I've previously owned a near new AE430 so Im somewhat au fait with some of the traits of the Husky Auto. When I was doing some research a few weeks back before buying the 360, I came across a thread where a guy in NZ (?) recommended running the largest rear sprocket available to keep the revs high so that the gears were fully engaged and therefore you weren't slipping the "clutch" so to speak, i.e. either on the gas or completely off the gas was the recommend riding style for auto gearbox longevity. What is the largest rear sprocket available? 56T?
And yes I have bought a supply of UNIVIS HVI 26 to change after every days riding.

If it is the same sprocket that is on the 1982 to 1988 Sprocket Specialists will make you any size you want up into the 70 tooth range. They probably can make one for pretty much anything. They come drilled for headed bolts and countersunk for the aluminum swingarms. Of course if they ship to Australia is something I can not comment on. I also have not got one in 10 or so years.

At some point the part that holds the rollers in front of the sprocket needs (or at least should be considered) modified.

If I recall correctly if going back in year far enough the sprockets are double drilled for 8mm and a smaller set of 6 holes as well that probably is before 1976.
