As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
I really like Beta... if the '16s with EFI were out I may have gone that way. I have never had a bike with a carb and don't plan on learning anything about one in 2015. Also it looks like the 430 is the smallest RS that will be offered in the states.![]()
The FE501 (non S) puts out 60hp at the crankshaft, but only 49hp to the rear tire. The KTM 350SX-F puts out 65hp at the crankshaft 51-55hp at the tire. The Husky 350 does not put out this kind of power because they put a smaller head on it, but it can be made to produce this kind of power. It doesn't have the low end torque, but yes, the KTM 350SX-F does put out more horsepower than a stock 501. MY2016 350sx puts out even higher horsepower and weights 225lbs. My original point being is that the 350's are smaller and nimble in the technicals without sacrificing output power.

With the Huskys, it is comparing apples to oranges, but shouldn't be. And that's the thing right there. If you compare the 350exc to the 350SXF, there's a 5 hp difference. I make up that with just fuel mapping on the exc. I can't do that on the Husky's. It is more than just the different heads, its a lot of things. I try and I do end up making the Husky 350s pretty zippy, but it's still apples and oranges.yes, but aren't you comparing the Husky enduro range to the KTM MX range? that's apples and oranges
Most people don't regress on bike sizes till they get SMARTER ... Are you SMARTER yet?
If there's a 5hp difference between the KTM 350exc and 350sxf, is it fair to say the HP difference between the FE and FC is roughly the same?
It seems to me your comparison between the SXF with the "bigger head" in comparison to an FE should really be a comparison between the SXF and FC, in that comparison i suspect both MX versions get the same head?
