  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

310 TXC Mods

Got about 80 miles on new 310 and I am loving it. Handles amazing and I can't believe how much power that little motor puts out. I was wondering what mods you guys have tried. JD Tuner, pipes, skid plates(I've already cracked mine), etc... Mine is bone stock with the exception of hand guards.

I have a '10 TXC 250...be sure to give us a ride report on that TXC 310! I think that will be my next bike. :D

I wrapped all the wires in electrical tape and put dielectric grease in all of the connectors. The previous owner wrapped spiral cable sleeve (like this) around critical components such as the oil line on the right side of the engine, the fuel line from the tank to throttle body and the rear brake line.

As for other mods:
Rekluse Core
Shorai battery
Handguards
JD Tuner
Pipe guard (got mine from Touratech)

Thanks for the reply Phoenix. I would recommend the 310 without hesitation. I've read about all the fuel injection issues with Huskys and can say for sure that they've fixed the problem on the 310 txc. I have tried everything to make the bike bog and it responds every time. No need for more power but curious what a pipe or tuner would do for bike. I weigh about 210 pounds and the suspension is great. I live in southern Indiana and mostly ride old coal mine property. I ride everything from tight woods, steep spoil hills, opens, and grass track and haven't found a corner yet that this bike doesn't like. Just seems to find traction everywhere.

I'm at 220lbs on my TXC310 and it was definitely undersprung for me, so far I've tried a .47kg springs in front and a 6.4 in the rear. It's still too soft and will install some .50kg springs in the front later this week and have a 6.6 spring for the rear if it still measures out with too much sag after adding some more pre-load to what I have.

I installed a Akra Ti full system before I even lit the bike up for the first time, lighter weight and no baffles in the muffler make for crisper response, this was also the case on my GF's '11 TE250 with that system.

I also installed a G2 Ergo throttle tube on the bike right out of the crate and figured the aggressive cam pull would be fine, however I was experiencing a high rate of flame outs in technical terrain, was cussing the bike/efi but turns out it was just the cam selection. Installed the intermediate throttle cam pull at the end of riding this past Sunday and all is much better now throttle response wise.

Drained the factory coolant and put in some engine ice right from the start, that stuff does wonders at keeping the engine cool in extremes, just need to change it annually typically for me.

Installed a Shorai battery when it came out of the crate, however it took a minute of intermittant cranking to get battery warmed up enough in 40 degree weather to start it last Sunday.

Cut the bars down and installed a Scott's stabilizer with Cycra pro-bends, also installed some Pivot Pegz in the low position to help with my 6'2" stature.

Next on the list during re-springing the forks this Friday will be to install softer pressure springs in the cartridge to take away some of the square edge jarring out of the closed chamber KYB's. Also awaiting some Xtrig triple clamps in the next week or so that will allow me more adjustability for the handlebar location as I want to get it 12-15mm forward from where Scott's thinks it should be (for ease of stabilizer mount engineering only)

Still running the stock skid pan as I try to avoid hitting trail trash, but at some point a Hyde plastic pan will be going on once the stocker has out stayed it's welcome.

Hope to spend a 3 day weekend on it this weekend, I hope to have it 99% tweaked by the end of it.

Stripped down the front forks and was very glad to see the TXC Kayaba SSS 48mm "dual chamber" forks are much much easier to work on then the closed chamber Shiver's I've been in a few times. Changed out the front springs from a .47 (take outs from an 07 YZF450) to a .50 this go around and went into the internal chamber to replace the progressive spring (the speed sensitive portion of the valving) to a 1.7 from the 2.0 which was in there and definitely better suited for SX/MX riding. While I was in there I went ahead and changed out the plastic pistons to the fancy alloy ones to prevent any potential at piston failure (which I think has more to do with improper dissassembly/assembly for the most part rather then internet chatter "they all do that") Just cruising down the alley way at the shop hitting curbs and lofts I can tell it's much closer to what I'm hoping for in the tight rutted stuff and turning in much better.

Added rear spring pre-load for a total of 10mm on a 6.4 rear spring, didn't measure race sag but will tomorrow suited up, think I'm right on the cusp of going to the 6.6 rear rate at 220lbs plus gear but at the rate I've been loosing the tonage I hope to be 210 or less by mid January.

Played with my idle stop screw and changed a few settings, crazy how some of these bikes change so much from brand new and tight to broken in, at just over 6 hours now and it's starting to really sing to me.

Now if I could just get those new triples and move my bars forward 15mm I'll be one satisfied dude! spending the next 3 days on it and look forward to it being dialed in by the time I pack it up for home.

So how loud is the akra compared to the stock?
With the Db restrictor/spark arrestor it's practically quiet. But it definitely has some bark in the open configuration. However all my riding buddies (mostly racers) love the sound!

Has anyone MX'd a 310? If so any mods just curious sounds like a fun and light bike I have a 449 I love motocross but I live 2 hours from a track and 5 min from lots of double and mostly single track so I obviously ride more trail and don't need 449 cc's for single track
